WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and of the Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Whakatane County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the said Whakatane County Council, situated at Whakatane, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the Clerk of the said Council at the said office.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME.
I, SYLVIA OTTOLINE DOROTHEA WATTS, heretofore called and known by the name of SYLVIA OTTOLINE DOROTHEA MARCUS, of Lansdowne, in the Provincial District of Marlborough, and Dominion of New Zealand, formerly of Hampstead, London, England, Spinster, hereby give public notice that on the 5th day of September, 1929, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of “Marcus” and then assumed and adopted and determined thence forth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Sylvia Ottoline Dorothea Watts” instead of the said name of “Sylvia Ottoline Dorothea Marcus.”
And I give further notice that by a deed poll dated the 5th day of September, 1929, duly executed and attested, and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Blenheim, on the 5th day of September, 1929, I formally and absolutely renounced, and abandoned the said surname of “Marcus,” and declared that I had assumed and adopted, and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of “Sylvia Ottoline Dorothea Watts” instead of “Sylvia Ottoline Dorothea Marcus,” and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the name of “Sylvia Ottoline Dorothea Watts,” exclusively.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CLOSE ROAD.
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and of the Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Whakatane County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to close the existing road adjoining or passing through the lands described in the Schedule hereto: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the road proposed to be closed is deposited in the public office of the said Whakatane County Council, situated at Whakatane, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the proposal to close such road who have any well-grounded objections to such proposal must lodge their objections, in writing, at the office of the said Whakatane County Council, in Whakatane, on or before the 26th day of October, 1929.

WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
Owairaka Extension Special-rating Area Loan, £750.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Waipa County Council hereby resolved as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £750, authorized to be raised by the Waipa County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of forming, culverting, widening, and gravelling for the first time of roads in the Owairaka Extension Special-rating Area in the County of Waipa, the said Waipa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one halfpenny (½d.) in the pound upon the rateable (unimproved) value of all rateable property in the Owairaka Extension Special-rating Area, comprising all that area in the County of Waipa, bounded commencing at the northern corner of Maungatautari 4B Nos. 3 and 6, Section 2A, by the northern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 2A, a line across a road, and the said road to its intersection with the eastern boundary of Maungatautari 4B No. 5; thence by a line across the junction of the said road with Adam’s Road to the north-western corner of Maungatautari 4B No. 7, Section 3B 2B; thence by north-western and north-eastern boundaries of the last-mentioned section to and across the Owairaka River; thence by the southern bank of the Owairaka River to a point opposite the south-western corner of Maungatautari 4F No. 1; thence by a line across the Owairaka River and the western boundary of Maungatautari 4F No. 1 to the south-eastern corner of Maungatautari 4H 4A; thence easterly by a right line through Maungatautari 4F No. 1 to a point in the eastern boundary of that block, distant 8057 links from the south-eastern corner thereof; thence by a line through Maungatautari 4F, bearing 104° 14′, to the western side of a road intersecting the said Maungatautari 4F; thence by the said road to and across the Owairaka River; thence by the southern bank of the Owairaka River to the northern corner of Section 3, Block XIV, Maungatautari Survey District; thence by the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 3 and 2 of the said Block XIV to the north-western boundary of Lot 1 of Section 3, Block XV, Maungatautari Survey District; thence by the north-western boundary of Lot 1 of Section 3, Block XV, Maungatautari Survey District, to its intersection with a road; thence southerly by the western boundary of the
