THE following special order, made by the Amuri County Council on the 2nd day of August, 1929, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Amuri County Council hereby resolves and declares by way of special order, that Californian Thistle, (cnicus arvensis), shall be deemed not to be a noxious weed within the County of Amuri.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT in pursuance and in exercise of the powers contained in the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, and all other powers it thereunto enabling, the Rotorua Borough Council doth hereby by special order declare that broom (cytisus scoparius) and gorse (ulex europaeus) are noxious weeds within the jurisdiction of of the said Council.
Time and Place of the First Meeting of the Fireblight Committee of the Gisborne Commercial Fruitgrowing District appointed.—(Notice No. Ag. 2848.)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Fireblight Committee Regulations, 1928, under the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Agriculture, hereby appoint 3 o’clock p.m., on Tuesday, the 10th day of September, 1929, as the time, and the New Zealand Insurance Building, Childers Road, Gisborne, as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Fireblight Committee of the Gisborne Commercial Fruitgrowing District established pursuant to the said regulations.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Fireblight Committee Regulations, 1928, under the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Agriculture, hereby appoint 10.30 o’clock a.m. on Friday, the 13th day of September, 1929, as the time, and the office of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, Ltd., Port Nelson, as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Fireblight Committee of the Waimea Commercial Fruitgrowing District established pursuant to the said regulations.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by section 6, subsection 1, of the Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927, I, Harry Atmore, Minister of Education, do hereby notify that the premises set forth in the Schedule below have been registered as from the date hereof as Children’s Homes for the purposes of the said Act.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Combined District of Auckland.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Combined District of Auckland, comprising the City of Auckland, the boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Mount-Albert, Mount Eden, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, and Takapuna, and the town districts of Ellerslie, Glen Eden, New Lynn, and Henderson, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 16th day of September, 1929, all tobacconists’ shops within the said combined district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8.15 p.m., on Fridays at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10.30 p.m. with the following exceptions—(1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day, the closing-hour on Wednesday for such shop shall be 9 p.m., and on Friday 10.30 p.m. (2) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe Friday as the statutory closing-day the closing-hour on Wednesday for such shop shall be 9 p.m. (3) On the working-days (other than those observed as the statutory closing-days) in the period from 15th December to 10th January of the following year, both days inclusive, on the special days mentioned in section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and on the working-day immediately preceding each of such special days, there shall be no fixed closing-hour:
And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the said combined district, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other shops within the said combined district in which smoking requisites are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set out herein for tobacconists’ shops.
The notice dated the 15th March, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd March, 1928, fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops within the Combined District of Auckland shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
