Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of streets described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be under the control and management of the Auckland City Council.
SCHEDULE.
PAORA STREET: All that portion of street known as Paora Street, commencing at a point opposite the south-western corner of Section 508, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction, adjoining the said Section 508, and terminating at its junction with Reihana Street; being a distance of 1 chain, more or less, and coloured neutral on plan.
Apihai Street: All that portion of street known as Apihai Street, commencing at a point opposite the south-western corner of Section 328, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction, adjoining the said Section 328, and terminating at its junction with Reihana Street; being a distance of 2·5 chains, more or less, and edged black on plan.
Reihana Street: All that portion of street known as Reihana Street, commencing at its junction with Coates Avenue, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and then north-westerly direction, adjoining Sections 456 to 453, 449, 452 to 450 (here is Tautari Street), 408 to 386 (here is Apihai Street), 328, 310 (here is Paora Street), and terminating at a point opposite the easternmost corner of Section 508; being a distance of 50·79 chains, more or less, and edged mauve on plan.
Tautari Street: All that portion of street known as Tautari Street, commencing at its junction with Paerimu Street, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, adjoining Sections 423 to 426, 406, 427, and 408, and terminating at its junction with Reihana Street, being a distance of 19·2 chains, more or less, and coloured mauve on plan.
All situated in the City of Auckland (Orakei Garden Suburb).
In the North Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 76205, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Amending Rules for Life-saving Appliances for Ships.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of August, 1929.

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the ninth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 85, of the fifteenth day of the same month, Rules for Life-saving Appliances for Ships were made:
And whereas it is desirable to amend the said rules in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke clause (c) of subsection two and clause (c) of subsection three of Rule thirteen of the hereinbefore-recited rules, and doth hereby substitute the following therefor:—
(2) (c) With sufficient ships’ biscuits to give 8 oz. per day for each person, and with sufficient chocolate in 1 oz. squares to give 2 oz. per day for each person (home-trade ships to carry two days’ supply, and ships plying beyond home-trade limits four days’ supply); twelve fish-hooks, and three fishing-lines. The biscuits and chocolate mentioned herein shall be kept in airtight and water-tight tanks with screw tops 5 in. inside measurement, each top to have two snugs each ¾ in. deep and ¾ in. diameter, and such receptacles shall be securely fastened in the boats and life-rafts.
(3) (c) With sufficient fresh water to give one pint per day for each person the raft is authorized to carry; with sufficient ships’ biscuits to give 8 oz. per day for each person, and with sufficient chocolate in 1 oz. squares to give 2 oz. per day for each person (home-trade ships to carry two days’ supply and ships plying beyond home-trade limits four days’ supply); twelve fish-hooks, and three fishing-lines. The water shall be kept in air-tight metal tanks or in proper kegs, and shall be kept in such part of the raft as may be approved by the Surveyor. Each water vessel shall have attached to it a dipper or other approved means of getting the water out without waste, and when tanks are used they shall have screw tops 3½ in. inside measurement, each top to have two snugs each ¾ in. deep and ¾ in. diameter. The biscuits and chocolates mentioned herein shall be kept in airtight and watertight tanks with screw tops 5 in. inside measurement, each top to have two snugs each ¾ in. deep and ¾ in. diameter, and such receptacles shall be securely fastened in the life-rafts: Provided that screw tops which were procured without the prescribed snugs by shipowners prior to the 23rd November, 1903, may be used if they are made so that they can be screwed up and unscrewed without difficulty, and the Surveyor considers they are suitable.

Amending Regulations under Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, as to Smoked Fish.—(H. 3/7.)

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto the regulations made under the said Act on the twenty-third day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and published in the Gazette on the twenty-sixth day of the same month, at page 1505 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”), and doth declare that the amendment hereby made shall be read together with and deemed part of the principal regulations.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATION 36 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by adding thereto the following additional clause:—
“Smoked Fish.
“(18) The addition of harmless vegetable colouring matter to properly smoked fish is hereby permitted.”

Directing the Sale of Land under the Public Works Act, 1928, in the City of Christchurch.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the public work for which it was acquired.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land directed to be sold: 1 acre 0 roods 27·5 perches.
Being Lots 8, 9, and 10, D.P. 1567, part Rural Section 72, Canterbury R.D.
Situated in the City of Christchurch, Block XV, Christchurch Survey District.
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 75931, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
