Amended By-laws of the New Plymouth Fire Board.

THE following by-laws made by the New Plymouth Fire Board are published in accordance with the Fire Brigades Act, 1926.

AMENDED BY-LAWS OF THE NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BOARD.

By-law No. 3, in respect of fires outside the Borough of New Plymouth, made on the 24th day of September, 1915, is hereby revoked and the following by-law is made in place thereof:—

  1. The Superintendent may, by his own discretion, render any assistance he deems necessary at any fire taking place outside the borough, provided always that he can do so without endangering the safety of the New Plymouth Fire District. If any portion of the New Plymouth Fire Brigade established and maintained by the Board attends and performs any services at a fire outside the Borough of New Plymouth at the request of the owner or occupier of such property, then such owner or occupier of such property shall pay to the Board for such attendance and services at the undermentioned rates:—

Superintendent or Officer in Charge of Brigade— £ s. d.

Mileage.

In addition to above charges mileage will be charged at the rate of 10s. per mile or part of a mile to be calculated from the Central Fire-station (charge one way).

The cost of transporting men to be borne by the owner or occupier. The times to be computed from the time of leaving the station until the return to the station.

By-law No. 4, in respect of fires on board any ship or vessel, made on the 24th day of September, 1915, is hereby revoked and the following by-law is made in place thereof:—

  1. If any brigade or any portion of the brigade, established and maintained by the Board, attends and performs any services at a fire taking place on board any ship or vessel, then the owner of such ship or vessel shall pay to the Board for such attendance and service the undermentioned rates as fixed by the Board, not exceeding—

Motor Fire-engine— £ s. d.

Each Superintendent, Foreman, and Engineer—

Mileage.

Award of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

Applying the Provisions of Section 135 of the Public Works Act to the Whau Bridge on the Auckland-Helensville Main Highway.

WHEREAS by resolution dated the 7th August, 1929, the Main Highways Board recommends, in pursuance of section 7 of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, be applied to the Whau Bridge on the Auckland-Helensville Main Highway:

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, and of every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of the Whau Bridge on the Auckland-Helensville Main Highway.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the regulations for the election of members of the Council of Education I hereby appoint Alec Edward Lake, Senior Clerk, Secretary’s Office, Education Department, Wellington, to be Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the election of members of the Council, and name the Education Department, Government Buildings, Wellington, as the address at which the business of the election shall be conducted.
