Kaitieke County.—Kaitieke Survey District.
(Exempt from Payment of Rent for a Period of Five Years.)
Section 4, Block IX: Area, 412 acres. Capital value, £200.
Half-yearly rent, £8.
Weighted with £500, value of improvements consisting of
felling, grassing, stumping, fencing, and buildings. This
amount may either be paid in cash or secured on first mortgage
to the State Advances Superintendent; term, thirty years;
interest, 6 per cent. per annum.
Access is from Raurimu Railway-station, which is about
twelve miles distant. 400 acres felled and grassed, of which
300 acres has reverted to fern and undergrowth. The section
is undulating to hilly, and lies well to the sun. The soil is of
light quality on clay and pumice formation. Well watered
by streams. Altitude, 900 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Waimarino County.—Manganui Survey District.
(Exempt from Payment of Rent for a Period of Five Years.)
Section 4, Block V: Area, 494 acres. Capital value, £247.
Half-yearly rent, £4 18s. 10d.
Weighted with £500, value of improvements consisting of
felling, grassing, fencing, plantations, dwelling, and wool-shed.
This amount may be either paid in cash or secured on first
mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent; term,
thirty years; interest, at 6 per cent. per annum.
Situated on the Raetihi-Ohura Road, about twenty-five
miles from Raetihi Railway-station and three miles from
the Ruatiti School. Dairy factory at Raetihi. Fairly steep
country, broken with some dangerous gorges, and carrying
light soil on sandstone. All felled and grassed, but second
growth is bad. A nice homestead-site. Suitable for grazing.
Altitude, 1,130 ft. to 1,850 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Land in the Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale
or selection on Monday, the twenty-third day of September,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and also that
the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby
also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, oc-
cupied, or leased as that mentioned in the said Schedule
hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied,
or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land
Act, 1924.


SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waimarino County.—Manganui Survey District.

SECTION 4, Block IX: Area, 369 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £185. Deposit on deferred payments, £10; half-
yearly instalment on deferred payments, £5 13s. 9d. Re-
newable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 14s.
Weighted with improvements valued at £1,530, consisting
of felling, grassing, stumping, fencing, sheep-yards, planta-
tions, orchard, and buildings. This amount may either be
paid in cash or left on first mortgage to the State Advances
Superintendent; terms, thirty years; interest at 6 per cent.
per annum.
Property has a frontage to the Raetihi-Ohura Road, four-
teen miles from Raetihi Railway-station. The Ruatiti
School is three miles distant and the Raetihi Dairy Factory
fourteen miles distant; 260 acres is in fair pasture, the
balance felled and grassed, but reverting to second growth
and fern. Well watered by streams.

Opening Crown Land in Gisborne Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir
Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the sixteenth day of September,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, at the rental
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that
the said land shall be leased under and subject to the pro-
visions of the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Opotiki County.—Waioeka Survey District.
(Exempt from Payment of Rent for a Period of Five Years.)
Lot 1 of Section 4, Block VII: Area, 600 acres. Capital
value, £150. Half-yearly rent, £3.
Loaded with £100, value of improvements comprising
200 acres felled and grassed but now overgrown, and old
whare. This amount may either be paid in cash or left on
first mortgage to the State Advances Office; term, thirty
years; interest, 6 per cent. per annum.
Situated on Tutaetoko Stream. Access from Opotiki, which
is about eighteen miles distant, ten miles full width dray-
road, balance mainly river-bed. Fairly easy in places along
stream, but mainly steep, with considerable slips. Well
watered by creeks. About 400 acres heavy mixed bush, and
about 200 acres originally felled and grassed but now mostly
overgrown with fern and scrub. Elevation from 600 ft. to
about 3,000 ft. above sea-level.

Special Condition.—After payment of the first half-year’s
rent, plus rent for the broken period (if any), no further rent
will be charged for a period of five years, on condition that an
amount at least equal to the rent so waived is spent on the
land half-yearly in addition to the usual improvements re-
quired.

Altering Constitution of the Transport Appeal Board for No. 13 Motor-omnibus District.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section sixteen of the Motor-omnibus Traffic Act, 1926,
and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
revoke the appointment made under my hand on the first
day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six,
of Francis Henry Donovan, as member of the Transport
Appeal Board, No. 13 Motor-omnibus District, and do hereby
appoint George Hewton, Motor-omnibus Proprietor, of Inver-
cargill, as member of the said Board, being one representative
of private owners of motor-omnibuses engaged in the conduct
of any motor-omnibus service within the district.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 9th day
of August, 1929.

Rangers under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, appointed.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority conferred by section 35 of the
Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, the under-
mentioned persons have been appointed Rangers under and
for the purposes of that Act for the South Canterbury
Acclimatization District:—

Thomas Kelliher, of Pleasant Point, and
Clarence Gilbert Oliver, of Temuka.
