A relieving-allowance shall not be paid to an officer for any period in excess of one month, or in cases where the period of relief is likely to be in excess of one month, without the previous approval of the Commissioner thereto. In such cases, where practicable, a commuted allowance will be payable.
Regulation 142 is hereby revoked.

IN pursuance of section 2 of the Child Welfare Act, 1925, I, Harry Atmore, Minister of Education, do hereby appoint the following persons as Honorary Child Welfare Officers for the districts mentioned for the purposes of the said Act for the period ending 31st December, 1929:—

Election of Member of the Wellington Land Board.
IN accordance with the provisions of section 47 of the Land Act, 1924, and the regulations thereunder, I, Henry William Charles Mackintosh, Returning Officer for the election of a member of the Wellington Land Board, do hereby declare the result of the poll taken on the 10th day of July, 1929, to be as follows:—

Land Surveyors’ Examination, September, 1929, Australia and New Zealand.
The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 15th July, 1929.
IT is hereby notified, for general information, that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for licenses to survey, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 16th September, 1929, at Wellington.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 2nd September, and that the examination fee as under must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained. Candidates desiring to sit in other centres than Wellington must forward a fee of £2 2s.; only those completing may do this.
At this examination candidates sitting for the first time will be accepted, as well as those completing former sittings.
The fee to be paid by new candidates should be that under the new regulations which are expected to be gazetted before the date of this examination.
This fee is £5 5s. for new candidates.
For candidates completing and desiring to sit in other centres the fee is subject to adjustment to the above fee in consideration of fees already paid in the past, and a fee of £2 2s. should be sent with application to secure the right to sit, subject to adjustment as above.
The fee of £5 5s. may, in the discretion of the Board, cover two post examinations if required, and the subsequent fees for certificates and registration are less than under old regulations for license.
