grass and rough feed ; badly watered. Property subdivided into five paddocks. Improvements consist of 74 chains of fencing, fair condition, 10 chains of draining, and a small shed. The land is suitable for dairying, cropping, or strawberry-growing.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Pukeamaru Range Scenic Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—
James Alexander Mullooly,
John Frank Pettie,
Oliver James McLachlan,
Thomas Murtagh,
David McGuire,
John Matthew Reid, and
Charles Eric Trafford,
who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Pukeamaru Range Scenic Board (herein referred to as “ the Board ”), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Saturday, the twentieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, at two o’clock p.m., in the Kawa Kawa Hotel, Te Araroa, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the third Saturday in each month at the time and place aforesaid, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting ; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman for such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
SCHEDULE.
PUKEAMARU RANGE SCENIC RESERVE.—GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 2, Block XII, Matakaoa Survey District: Area, 1,878 acres 3 roods, more or less.
Also Section 1, Block XI, Matakaoa Survey District: Area, 3,575 acres, more or less.

Warrant authorizing the Masterton County Council to construct a Bridge over the Ruamahunga River, at Te Ore Ore, on the Masterton—Weber via Alfredton Main Highway (together with Approaches thereto) and apportioning the Cost.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the Masterton County Council to construct the bridge (together with approaches thereto) described in the Schedule hereto ; and I do also declare that the cost thereof, less such contribution (if any) as may be made thereto by the Government of New Zealand or the Main Highways Board, shall be borne by the Masterton County Council and the Masterton Borough Council in the following proportions—viz., the Masterton County Council shall pay ninety (90) per centum and the Masterton Borough Council shall pay ten (10) per centum of such cost, respectively : And I do further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Masterton Borough Council shall be paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the said Borough Council within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Masterton County Council ; and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Masterton County Council for and on behalf of the Masterton Borough Council.
SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge in the Wellington Land District over the Ruamahunga River at Te Ore Ore, on the Masterton—Weber via Alfredton Main Highway (together with approaches thereto). As the site of the said bridge and approaches is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 75298, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section two of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Samuel Richard Kingdon an officer for the purposes of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three hundred and first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons set out in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, at the places set opposite their names in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three hundred and first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.
