The total live births registered for the urban areas amounted to 958 as against 1,149 in May, a decrease of 191. The deaths in June were 567—a decrease of 28 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 319, females 248. Forty-nine of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 8·64 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-five of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for June, 1929, and six months ended June, 1929, were as follows. The infant-mortality and still-birth rates per 100 births for the same period are also given.
