Temporary Regulations under the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, for the Licensing of Persons engaged in the Business of Renting Films.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulations hereinafter set forth with reference to the licensing of persons engaged in the business of renting cinematograph-films, and doth hereby declare that the regulations hereby made shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.

REGULATIONS.

RENTERS’ LICENSES.

  1. APPLICATION for a renter’s license under the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, in respect of the period ending on the 31st day of December, 1929, shall be made in writing, addressed to the Chief Inspector of Explosives at Wellington, and shall be accompanied by the appropriate fee as prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto.

  2. (1) Every renter’s license issued under these regulations shall be subject to the condition that the holder thereof, in respect of all cinematograph-films for the time being in his possession or under his control, shall comply with the regulations for the time being in force under the Explosive and Dangerous Goods Amendment Act, 1920, relating to cinematograph-films.

(2) If the holder of a renter’s license as aforesaid commits any breach of the regulations referred to in the last preceding subclause or otherwise fails to comply with the conditions of his renter’s license, the license may be cancelled by direction of the Minister of Internal Affairs.

  1. A renter’s license under these regulations shall be in the form in the First Schedule hereto, or to the effect thereof.

  2. These regulations shall be deemed to be revoked on the 31st day of December, 1929, and all licenses issued thereunder, unless sooner cancelled as hereinbefore provided, shall expire on that date.

  3. The fees payable in respect of renters’ licenses shall be in accordance with the scale of fees in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

RENTER’S LICENSE UNDER THE CINEMATOGRAPH FILMS ACT, 1928.

In pursuance of the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, and regulations thereunder, of , is hereby licensed to carry on business as a renter of cinematograph-films, in premises situated at .

This license is issued subject to the condition that the licensee, in respect of all films for the time being in his possession or under his control, shall at all times comply with the requirements of the Dangerous Goods (Cinematograph Films) Regulations, 1925 (being regulations made under the Explosive and Dangerous Goods Amendment Act, 1920, by Order in Council dated the 21st day of September, 1925), including any regulations made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.

This license, unless sooner surrendered or cancelled, shall continue in force until the 31st day of December, 1929, and shall then expire.

The receipt of the license fee of £ is hereby acknowledged.

Extending Time for holding Election of Trustees for Hillside Drainage District.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 29th day of January, 1929.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section ten of the Land Drainage Act, 1908, it is provided that on the first Monday in the month of November in the year following the year in which the first Trustees for any drainage district are elected, and on the same day in each succeeding third year thereafter, an election of Trustees for each district shall be held:

And whereas an election of Trustees for the Hillside Drainage District should have been held on the fifth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight:

And whereas it is expedient to extend the time for holding such election of Trustees for the Hillside Drainage District:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section twenty-two of the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the time for holding the aforesaid election of Trustees for the Hillside Drainage District; and doth hereby order and declare that in the aforesaid drainage district the said election shall be held and take place on Monday, the eighteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine.
