Amending Regulations under the Stock Act, 1908, relating to the Importation into New Zealand of Hay, Straw, or Chaff.—Notice No. Ag. 2782.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 29th day of January, 1929.

WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the fourth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and published in the Gazette on the sixth day of the same month at page 636, regulations (hereinafter referred to as “the said regulations”) were made under the Stock Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), prescribing, inter alia, the manner in which any hay, straw, or chaff used as packing for any goods imported into New Zealand from the United States of America shall be dealt with:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to amend the said regulations by prohibiting absolutely the introduction into New Zealand from the State of California in the United States of America of any hay, straw, or chaff, whether used in packing for goods or otherwise, as a safeguard against the introduction of diseases affecting stock:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the said regulations by prohibiting absolutely the introduction, either direct or by way of any other State in the United States of America, or by way of any other country, into the said Dominion from the State of California of any hay, straw, or chaff, whether used as packing for goods imported into the said Dominion or otherwise howsoever, and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR JOSEPH WARD, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Stock Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations under the said Act governing the importation of cattle from the United States of America, made by Order in Council on the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and published in the Gazette on the sixteenth day of the same month at page 406, by prohibiting absolutely the introduction, either direct or by way of any other State in the United States of America, into the said Dominion, of cattle and fodder from the State of California, and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette.
