Result of Poll for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor, Tauranga Borough Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF TAURANGA.
Loan Proposals.
I HEREBY give notice that the polls held on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposals to raise £2,300 for Library Loan, and £9,380 for Drainage-extension Loan, respectively, resulted as follows:—
Library loan: For the proposal, 250; against the proposal, 259; informal, 13: total, 522.
Drainage loan, £9,380: For the proposal, 61; against the proposal, 96; informal, 1: total, 158.
And I declare both the above proposals to be rejected.

BOROUGH OF TAURANGA.
Loan Proposal.
I hereby give notice that the poll held on the 1st day of May, 1929, to raise £4,470 for drainage extension and outfall scheme resulted as follows:—
For the proposal, 120; against the proposal, 88; informal, 9: total, 217.
And I declare the above proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loans.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Devonport Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF DEVONPORT.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Devonport taken on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposals of the Devonport Borough Council to borrow the sums of £4,300 and £1,900 for the undermentioned purposes the result was as follows:—
Proposal No. 1.—Land Compensation: £4,300 (four thousand three hundred pounds) for the purpose of repaying to the General Account moneys paid out of the said account for compensation-moneys and other expenses in connection with the taking of land under the Public Works Act, 1908, for—
(a) Street-widening purposes (Victoria Road); and
(b) Extending the recreation reserve known as Cheltenham Beach.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 916; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 664.
Proposal No. 2.—Vauxhall Seawall: £1,900 (one thousand nine hundred pounds) for completing the Vauxhall Seawall.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 729; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 568.
I therefore declare that both the above proposals were carried.

And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Greytown has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough:
Now, therefore, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 20th day of May, 1929.

Now, therefore, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 20th day of May, 1929.
