Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 10th May, 1929.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Napier Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

JOSEPH WARD, Minister of Finance.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Napier, taken on the 23rd day of April, 1929, on the proposal to raise by way of loan the sum of £7,000 for the purpose following, that is to say,—

Rounding or splaying off the corners of certain streets at the corners specified in the voting-paper for such poll, and in connection therewith doing the following works, acts, and things: Acquiring by purchase or otherwise the necessary pieces of land; removing, re-erecting, and reinstating shops, buildings, and fences; straightening the approaches to any of such corners; removing and cutting away banks and trees; constructing retaining-walls where necessary; paying compensation where shops or buildings are interfered with; paying such other compensation as may be payable for acquiring, interfering with, or damaging rights or property; removing and re-erecting telegraph and electric-light poles and wiring; altering stormwater channelling and pits; and forming and metalling new portions of roadways and footpaths; paying survey and legal expenses; generally doing such other works, acts, and things as may be advisable or expedient for making the said corners safe for vehicular and pedestrian traffic,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 533; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 183.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 10th May, 1929.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Southbridge Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

JOSEPH WARD, Minister of Finance.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loan Act, 1926, and section 32 of the Local Election and Polls Act, 1925, we hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Southbridge Town Board District, taken on the 18th day of April, 1929, on the proposal of the Southbridge Town Board to borrow the sum of three thousand six hundred pounds for the purpose of erecting a new Town Hall and Board Offices at Southbridge, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 41; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 10.

And we declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Wanganui City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL.

I HEREBY publicly notify that the poll taken on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposal of the Wanganui City Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the following purposes—namely, the erection of a ladies’ rest-room in the City of Wanganui, and the providing of all material, appliances, and things necessary, expedient, or convenient for such purposes, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 2,445; against the proposal, 2,302; informal, 286.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Lower Hutt Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF LOWER HUTT.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that as a result of the poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Lower Hutt taken on the 1st day of May, 1929, on the proposal of the Lower Hutt Borough Council to borrow the sum of £11,800 for the purpose of tar-sealing certain roads in the borough, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 2,013; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 652.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Dated at Lower Hutt this 7th day of May, 1929.
