Lands in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 30th April, 1929.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections
are open for selection on renewable lease under the
Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4
o'clock p.m. on Monday, 20th May, 1929.
Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants
who have one or more children dependent on them, to landless
applicants who within two years immediately preceding date
of ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully,
to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members
of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on
military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the
late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were
bona fide residents of New Zealand, and to applicants who,
while domiciled in New Zealand, have served beyond New
Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in connection
with any war other than the war with Germany.

SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.-Mapara Survey District.
SECTION 4, Block III : Area, 531 acres. Capital value,
£400. Half-yearly rent, £8.
Exemption from payment of rent will be granted for a
period of five years provided improvements to the value of
£40 are effected annually.
Loaded with £400 for improvements, which may be paid
in cash or may be secured by a first mortgage to the State
Advances Superintendent on a twenty-year term ; interest,
6 per cent. ; half-yearly instalment, £17 6s.
A grazing farm situated on the Kurakura Road, eight
miles from Kopaki Railway-station and two miles from Arai-matai School. Four hundred and eighty acres have been
felled and grassed, but are now deteriorated. Other improve-ments : house, cowshed, 190 chains fencing. About 40 acres,
situated at the front of the section, comprises light ploughable
country.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Term of lease, sixty-six years, with a perpetual right of
    renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years.
  2. Rent, 4 per cent. per annum on the capital value, payable
    on lst January and 1st July in each year.
  3. Applicants to be seventeen years of age and upwards.
  4. Applicants to furnish statutory declaration with applications, and, on being declared successful, deposit £1 ls. (lease
    fee) and a half-year’s rent. Rent for the broken period
    between date of lease and 1st January or 1st July following
    is also payable.
  5. Applications made on the same day are deemed to be simultaneous.
  6. Order of selection is decided by ballot.
  7. Successful applicant to execute lease within thirty days
    after being notified that it is ready for signature.
  8. Residence is to commence within four years in bush land
    or swamp land, and within one year in open or partly open
    land, and to be continuous for ten years. Under certain
    conditions personal residence may be dispensed with.
  9. Improvements.-Lessee is required to improve the land
    within one year to the value of 10 per cent. of the price ;
    within two years to the value of another 10 per cent. of the
    price; and thereafter, but within six years, to the value of
    another 10 per cent. of the price. In addition to the fore-going, and within six years, improvements are also to be
    effected to the value of £1 for every acre of first-class land,
    10s. for every acre of second-class land, and 2s. 6d. for every
    acre of third-class land.
  10. Lessee to pay all rates, taxes, and assessments.
  11. Transfer not allowed until completion of two years’
    continuous residence, except under extraordinary circumstances, and then only with permission.
  12. Roads may be taken through the lands at any time
    within seven years; twice the original value to be allowed
    for area taken for such roads.
  13. Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.

Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

Wellington, 26th April, 1929.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for selection in renewable lease under the
Land Act, 1924, and that applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o'clock
p.m. on Monday, 27th May, 1929.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, on Wednesday, 29th May, 1929, at 10.30 o'clock
a.m.; but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by
the Land Board of any other district.
Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants
who have one or more children dependent on them; to landless
applicants who within two years immediately preceding date
of the ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully;
to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members
of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on
military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the

SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.-Whirinaki Survey District.
(Exempt from Payment of Rent for Five Years.)
Lot 2 of Section 1, Block III : Area, 572 acres 0 roods 21
perches. Capital value, £215. Half-yearly rent, £4 6s.
Weighted with £990, for improvements comprising felling
and grassing, stumping, fencing, orchard, dwelling, yards,
and dip. This sum may be secured by a first mortgage to
the State Advances Superintendent, securing £370, and a
second private mortgage for the balance.
This section is situated on the right bank of the Waipapa
Stream, with a frontage to the Waipapa Valley Road. The
access is from Raetihi Railway-station, about 40 miles distant-twelve miles metalled, twenty-seven miles formed
dray-road, and one mile bridle-track. 120 acres standing
bush, 450 acres felled and grassed, of which 150 acres have
reverted to fern and undergrowth. About 10 acres flat;
balance undulating to hilly and broken ridges. The soil is
a light-quality loam on clay and papa formation. Well
watered by streams. Elevation, 1,100 ft. to 1,500 ft. above
sea-level.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Kaitieke County.-Kaitieke Survey District.
(Exempt from Payment of Rent for Five Years.)
Lot 1B of Section 2, Block XIII : Area, 327 acres 2 roods.
Capital value, £82. Half-yearly rent, £1 12s. 10d.
Weighted with £318, for improvements comprising 280
acres felled and grassed, 126 chains fencing, whare, and
shed. This sum may be secured on mortgage to the State
Advances Superintendent.
The section is situated on the watershed of the Maungaroa
and Tarata Streams, with a frontage to the Kokako Road.
Access from Raurimu Railway-station, about twenty-six
miles distant (eight miles metalled and eighteen miles formed
dray-road). Undulating to steep and broken country, rising
to sandstone bluffs. About 47 acres in standing bush, 280
acres felled and grassed, mostly reverted. Light-quality
soil. Well watered by streams. Elevation, 1,600 ft. to
1,750 ft. above sea-level.
