Plumbers Registration Act, 1912.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE, PLUMBERS BOARD EXAMINATION, 26TH AND 27TH OCTOBER, 1928.

THE following candidate, having passed the examination of the Plumbers Board of New Zealand, held on the 26th and 27th October, 1928, his name has been entered in the Register of Plumbers of New Zealand in pursuance of sections 9 and 17 (b) of the Act:—

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Dannevirke.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10.45 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.; (2) on the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the working-day that first precedes New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour:

And whereas I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 29th day of April, 1929, all the said shops within the said Borough shall be closed accordingly.

The notice dated the 17th May, 1926, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 20th May, 1926, fixing the closing-hours of (1) hairdressers’ and (2) tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Dannevirke of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.


WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigarettes, tobaccos, and smokers’ requisites—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:

And whereas I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 29th day of April, 1929, the sale of the said goods within the Borough of Dannevirke shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 10.45 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hour of 10.30 p.m.; (2) on the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the working-day that first precedes New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

The notice dated the 1st June, 1926, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th June, 1926, prohibiting the sale within the Borough of Dannevirke of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

NEW ZEALAND.—STEWART ISLAND.—PATERSON INLET.

Rocky Shoal reported to exist.

Position: Lat. 46° 55½ S., long. 168° 05½ E. (approx.), on chart No. 2541.

Details: A rocky shoal, having a depth of 5½ fathoms, exists off the eastern extreme of the southern entrance point to Kaipipi Bay. The following bearings and distances indicate the approximate position of this shoal:—
Eastern extremity of the southern entrance point to Kaipipi Bay, 287°·5, 4·3 cables.
Centre of the 3½ fathom pinnacle of rock lying 1½ cables eastward of the southern entrance point to Kaipipi Bay, 270°, 3 cables.
Pryse Peak, 247°·5, 3·09 miles.

Remarks: This rocky shoal has not been closely examined, and the position given above is approximate only. The shoal is reported to shelve gradually towards the southern entrance point to Kaipipi Bay.

I, WALTER HAROLD FLETCHER, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Hutt Valley Boxing Association (Incorporated) is no longer carrying on its operations and has become defunct, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.
