Prohibiting all Alienation of certain Native Land other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 3rd day of April, 1929.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienations of the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienations in favour of the Crown.

Inspector of Scenic Reserve appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section four of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint James Donald Calder to be an Inspector under the said Act in respect to the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
SAMSON HILL SCENIC RESERVE.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District containing by admeasurement 51 acres 3 roods 26 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections 2, 3, and 4, Block XII, Tautuku Survey District: Bounded towards the west and north generally by other part of Section 4, 277·6 links, 611·7 links,

1484·1 links, 544·1 links, 663·4 links, 348·3 links, 538·1 links, 377·7 links; towards the east generally by other part of Section 2, 1892·9 links and 587·4 links; towards the south and east generally by Section 40, 383·3 links, 1224·4 links, 1000 links; towards the south and west generally by other part of Section 3, 100 links, 1070·9 links, 2134·4 links, to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly shown on the plan marked L. and S. 264, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Settlement Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Friday, the twenty-fourth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
The settlement is situated on the banks of the northern Wairoa River, about half a mile from the Tangowahine Wharf and railway-station at the nearest point. Kirikopuni is about five miles distant, and Dargaville seven miles and a half by the Dargaville-Whangarei Main Road. The soil generally is of fair to good clay on the hilly portion, while the swamp area varies from very fair to rich swamp deposit. The hill country is suitable for running sheep, while the swamp land is essentially dairying land. When the sections are fully improved they should make very good farms.

PARTICULAR DESCRIPTION.
Section 1s : About 14 acres easy undulating land in grass ; balance good swamp land in grass, rushes, and cutty grass. Few blackberries.
