The total live births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,017 as against 1,082 in November, a decrease of 65. The deaths in December were 503—a decrease of 11 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 251, females 252. Fifty-three of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 10·54 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-nine of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for December, 1928, and twelve months ended December, 1928, were as follows. The infant mortality and still-birth rates per 100 births for the same period are also given.
