Mangonui County.—Rangawru Survey District.

Section 2, Block VIII: Area, 104 acres 2 roods 7 perches. Capital value, £80. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £2 8s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 12s.

Section is situated alongside the Lake Ohia Post-office and about eleven miles from Mangonui. Poor undulating country, covered with fern and scrub. Poorly watered by swampy streams.

Rodney County.—Oruawharo Parish.

Section 117: Area, 154 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £155. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £4 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 2s.

Situated between Wellsford and Te Hana, about three miles from Wellsford Railway-station. Access road is formed two miles, unformed one mile. Undulating to hilly land in danthonia, fern, and short scrub. All more or less ploughable. On eastern side of railway-line the soil is a good loam on limestone formation; balance is clay and clay loam on sandstone formation. Well watered by springs and streams. No improvements. Elevation from 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level.

Appointing a Member of the Wanganui Harbour Board.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section thirty-eight of the Harbours Act, 1923, that in the event of an extraordinary vacancy in the office of an elective member of a Harbour Board, other than a representative of a constituent district, the Governor-General may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint some qualified person in his place:

And whereas Allan Robinson, an elective member of the Wanganui Harbour Board, being a representative of the combined district of those portions of the counties of Wanganui and Waimarino within the Harbour District, is deceased, and an extraordinary vacancy in the membership of the Board has thereby been created, and it is desirable to appoint a qualified person in his place:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint James Thomas Hogan to be a member of the Wanganui Harbour Board as a representative of the combined district aforesaid, in the place of the said Allan Robinson, deceased.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 8th day of March, 1929.

Rules for conducting the Survey of Land.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the Surveyors Registration Act, 1928, the Survey Board doth hereby make rules for the conduct of surveys, and for ensuring the accuracy of plans and surveys required under any Act relating to or affecting the surveys of lands, except fundamental or basic surveys carried out under the direction of the Surveyor-General for standard, topographical, geodesical, or other scientific purposes; and doth hereby make and enact as such rules all those regulations made for the like purposes by the Surveyors’ Board constituted under the Surveyors’ Institute and Board of Examiners Act, 1908, on the 20th day of March, 1923, and published in the Gazette on the 28th day of June, 1923, at page 1793, subject to the following modifications:—

  1. The said regulations shall be read as amended by the amending regulations made as aforesaid on the 8th day of April, 1925, and published in the Gazette on the 4th day of June, 1925, at page 1849.

  2. The said regulations shall be read as further amended in manner following, that is to say:—

(a) The definitions of “Surveyor” and “Board” contained in clause numbered 1 of the said regulations are revoked and the following substituted:—

“Surveyor” shall mean a person registered as an authorized surveyor under the provisions of the Surveyors Registration Act, 1928; and in respect of land-transfer surveys, licensed also by the Surveyor-General in that behalf:

“Board” means the Survey Board constituted under the Surveyors Registration Act, 1928.

There shall be inserted following the clause numbered 141 of the said regulations the following additional clause:—

141A. Where boundaries of town subdivisions as herein-after defined are shown by curved lines, such boundaries shall be marked on the ground by pegs or other accepted marks, on the curve, in such manner that the offset from the chord between adjacent ground marks shall not exceed one link, nor shall the said ground marks be at greater intervals than one chain apart.

Made at Wellington this 25th day of January, 1929, at a meeting of the Survey Board at which the Surveyor-General was present.
