Notifying Land in Canterbury Land District for Sale by Public Auction.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Reserve 781: Area, 1 acre 2 roods 19 perches. Capital value, £100.
Reserve 782: Area, 3 roods 38 perches. Capital value, £150.
Reserve 952: Area, 2 roods 37 perches. Capital value, £80.
Reserve 781: Situated on corner of Michael Street and Victoria Terrace. Flat land, fair quality, about one quarter of a mile from railway-station and post-office. No buildings, but water laid on from borough supply to a wooden trough.
Reserve 782: On corner of High, Holmes, and Edward Street. Half a mile from post-office. All good quality flat land; suitable for building-sites.
Reserve 952: On corner of High and Dobson Streets. Good level section. Good building-site.

Notifying Land in Hawke's Bay Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Thursday, the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, as the time at which the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Hawke's Bay County.—Tarawera Survey District.
SECTION 2, Block VI: Area, 94 acres 2 roods. Upset price, £500.
Weighted with £2,186, valuation for improvements, payable in cash.
Situated at Tarawera, on the Napier-Taupo main road, forty-eight miles from Napier and fifty miles from Taupo. The Tarawera Hotel is situated on this area, and the improvements comprise the hotel of sixteen rooms (with bar, kitchen, scullery, and bathroom). Outbuildings comprise dairy, store, staff's quarters, washhouse, bottle-store, benzine and oil store, motor-shed, &c. Other improvements comprise tennis-courts, grounds laid out, plantations, orchard, stockyard, fowl-house and run, piggery and run, and fences.
The hotel is a favourite stopping-place for travellers to and from Taupo.
The land comprises fair flats, but steep sidlings along creeks. In fair grass, principally danthonia. Would carry five or six cows and few sheep. Well watered. A hot spring is located on the property about one-third of a mile from hotel.

Opening Land in the Gisborne Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the thirteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waiapu County.—Mata Survey District.
Section 1, Block IV: Area, 1,701 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £10,650. Deposit on deferred payments, £320. Instalment on deferred payments, £335 14s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £213.
Situated at Ruatoria about one mile from the post-office and Native school. Frontage to the main Tokomaru-Ruatoria Road (good metalled road). Good sheep country, undulating to steep in parts; all in grass, chiefly native. About 250 acres back in tea-tree and fern, with patches of light bush. Watered by creeks and springs. Improvements which go with the land comprise about 1,450 acres cleared and grassed, valued at £4,300. Half-share of three miles old fences on the south and east boundaries, 36 chains broken fence north-west corner, and 35 chains of subdivision fence; the whole valued at £135. New fences on the western and northern boundaries erected by the adjoining owners. Elevation from 220 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level.
Note.—The incoming tenant will have to make his own arrangements with the adjoining owners re payment of half the cost of the new fence on the northern and western boundaries.
Waiapu County.—Waipiro Survey District.
Section 1, Block I: Area, 1,241 acres 2 roods 10 perches. Capital value, £8,075. Deposit on deferred payments, £250. Instalment on deferred payments, £254 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £161 10s.
Situated on the Ruatoria-Tuparoa Road, about two miles from the Ruatoria Post-office and one mile and a quarter from Native school. Good undulating grass country (chiefly native grass); about 25 acres ploughable land. Ring fenced, but fence in fair to bad condition, erected by the former lessee. Well watered by streams and springs. Improvements which go with the land comprise about 1,200 acres cleared and grassed, valued at £3,600; half-share of five miles boundary-fence, £200; one mile road-fence, £40; and seventy-five chains subdivision fence, £20. Elevation 220 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level.
