Opening Lands in the Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Thursday, the twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Rotorua County.—Rotorua Survey District.
SECTION 20, Block IV: Area, 202 acres 0 roods 6 perches. Capital value, £50. Deposit on deferred payments, £5. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £1 9s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1.
Weighted with £140, valuation for improvements comprising three-roomed dwelling, cow-byre, cistern, 100 chains boundary and 100 chains subdivisional fencing; payable in cash.
Situated on the Okohi Road, one mile from Te Pu Post-office and school, and twelve miles from Ngongotaha. Undulating land, originally all bush, of which approximately 80 acres have been felled and grassed, but the cleared portion has now become overgrown with blackberry and ragwort. The soil is light loam resting on pumiceous formation. Watered by springs and cistern.
NOTE.—The selector of this property is required to acquire a lease over Lot 12 of Section 12, Block V, Rotoiti Survey District (29 acres), for use as a change paddock.
Rotorua County.—Waihi South Survey District.
SECTIONS 2 and 9, Block XI: Area, 1,371 acres 3 roods 9 perches. Capital value, £420. Deposit on deferred payments, £20. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £13. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 8s.
Weighted with £94, valuation for improvements consisting of 120 chains internal fencing and half-share 130 chains boundary fencing; to be paid for in cash.
Grazing property, situated nine miles from Pikowai Railway-station, three miles from Forest Gate School, and twenty-nine miles from Te Puke Saleyards. About 50 acres level; balance broken pumice land, covered with fern and manuka. Light soil on pumice formation; watered by springs. Subdivided into four paddocks. Fences in very poor order. No buildings.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Tauranga County.—Te Puna Parish.
Section 234: Area, 261 acres 3 roods. Capital value £200. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £6 3s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4.
Weighted with £130, valuation for improvements comprising dwelling of three rooms and scullery (in poor order) and fifty chains fencing; repayable either in cash or by an instalment mortgage extending over a period of fifteen years; interest, 5½ per cent.; half-yearly instalment, £6 8s. 5d.
Property suitable for grazing and dairying. Situated about seven miles from Tauranga, and three miles from Bethlehem School. About 80 acres ploughable, level, undulating land, balance hilly to broken, the whole area being in fern and tea-tree. Soil a light sandy loam of poor to fair quality, resting on pumice formation; watered by Ruangarara Stream and springs. Gorse is spreading on the area, and requires immediate attention.
Piako County.—Waitoa Survey District.
Lot 1 of Section 14, Block V: Area, 199 acres 2 roods 17 perches. Capital value, £200. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £6 3s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4.
Lot 2 of Section 14, Block V: Area, 195 acres 3 roods 3 perches. Capital value, £200. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £6 3s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4.
Lot 1 is weighted with £30, valuation for improvements comprising half-share in 70 chains fencing on the northern boundary; to be paid for in cash.
Situated on the old Morrinville-Patetonga Road, about fifteen miles from Morrinville, fourteen miles and a half by metalled road and half a mile by formed clay road and, three miles from Tahuna School and Post-office. Sections comprise open undulating to hilly country, soil being of fair loam resting on clay formation. The whole area is at present in fern, tea-tree, and tutu. Fairly well watered by springs.
NOTE.—Applications from holders of other land in the locality to acquire these sections for use as grazing-off runs will receive consideration.

Appointment of Officer under Part II of the Fisheries Act, 1908.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed Edward Dudley Mansel, of Tokaanu, to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act, in respect of the area defined in the First Schedule to the Taupo Trout-fishing Regulations, 1928.
