Open Season for Fallow-deer Shooting, Lakes District Acclimatization District.


IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Maui Pomare, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 15th day of March, 1929, to the 14th day of May, 1929 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Lakes District Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., fallow-deer bucks and does—within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.


CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill fallow-deer bucks and does may be issued by the Postmaster at Queenstown, on the recommendation of the Secretary of the Lakes District Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  2. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

  3. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  5. Nothing in any license to take or kill fallow-deer bucks and does shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill fallow-deer bucks or does on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

  6. The licensee must give notice to the said Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

  7. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

All that area known as Greenstone and Caples Valleys and the country from Bobs Cove to Lake Dispute, thence to Ben Lomond and One-mile Creek.

, of , having this day paid the sum of £2, is hereby authorized to take or kill fallow-deer bucks and does within that part of the Lakes District Acclimatization District known as the Greenstone and Caples Valleys and the country from Bobs Cove to Lake Dispute, thence to Ben Lomond and One-mile Creek, from the 15th day of March, 1929, to the 14th day of May, 1929 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting fallow-deer bucks and does made thereunder and in force within the said district.

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill fallow-deer bucks or does on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

Special Order made by the Taumarunui County Council altering Riding Boundaries (and adjusting Representation).

THE following special order, made by the Taumarunui County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 1st day of April, 1929, as the date on and from which the special order shall take effect.

TAUMARUNUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

A Special Order adjusting the Ridings and Representation.

Special Order made on 10th August, and confirmed on 14th September, 1928.

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Taumarunui County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows:—

  1. The present division of the County of Taumarunui into six ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into five ridings, to be called respectively Waimiha Riding, Taringamotu Riding, Pungapunga Riding, Otunui Riding, and Kirikau Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Taumarunui County Council shall consist of nine members, who shall be elected as follows:—

(a) The electors of the Taringamotu Riding shall elect three Councillors:

(b) The electors of the Pungapunga Riding and the Otunui Riding shall each elect two Councillors:

(c) The electors of the Waimiha Riding and the Kirikau Riding shall each elect one Councillor.

  1. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 1st day of April, 1929.

SCHEDULE.

Waimiha Riding.—All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Ongarue River in line with the south-western corner of Rangitoto-Tuhua 76 B2 E; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundaries of Rangitoto-Tuhua 76 B2 E, 76 B5, 80 B1 C2, Lot 6, and No. 9; thence northwards by the eastern boundary of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 9; and easterly by the southern boundaries of Section 4, Block XIII, Ongarue Survey District, Sections 1 and 2, Block XIV, Ongarue Survey District, and Hurakaia B2; thence northerly by the eastern boundaries of the said Hurakaia B2, Ketemaringi No. 2, Sections 5 and 4, Block X, Hurakaia Survey District, to the Ongarue River; thence down the middle of that river to the point of commencement.

Taringamotu Riding.—All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Ongarue River in line with the northern boundary of the Borough of Taumarunui; thence northwards up the middle of the Ongarue River to the boundary of the Waimiha Riding; thence by the southern and eastern boundaries of the Waimiha Riding to the middle of the Ongarue River in line with the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block X, Hurakaia Survey District; thence easterly up the middle of the Ongarue River to the Pureora Trig. Station; thence by the eastern boundary of Provisional State Forest No. 99, and the northern boundaries of Waihaha 3 E3, 3 E2, and 3 E1, and the eastern boundary of Waihaha 3 E16 to Lake Taupo; thence southerly by the shore of Lake Taupo to the mouth of the Oruapuroto Stream; thence by the southern boundaries of Waihaha 3 D2, 3 D1, and State Forest No. 99 to Rangitoto-Tuhua 67D Block; thence southerly by the eastern boundary of Rangitoto-Tuhua 67D and Rangitoto-Tuhua 67 B1, Lot 2; thence by the southern boundary of Rangitoto-Tuhua 67 B1, Lot 2, to the north-western corner of Puketapu 3C 5B; thence by the western boundary of the said Puketapu 3C 5B to Peg XXXIV; thence westerly by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Puketapu 3C 8; thence by the eastern, southern, and western boundaries of Puketapu 3C 9 to the south-eastern corner of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 8; thence by the southern boundary of Rangitoto-Tuhua No. 2 to and along the southern boundaries of Ohura South A 3D, A 3E 1, A 3E 2A, A 3E 2B, A 3E 2C 1B, A 3E 2C 1D, A 3E 2C 1C; thence by the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 6, Block XIV, Tuhua Survey District, and the southern boundaries of Sections 3 and 4, Block XIV, Tuhua Survey District, to Whatawhata Trig. Station; thence by the northern boundary of the Borough of Taumarunui to the point of commencement.
