Proclaiming Native Land to have become Crown Land.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, it is provided, inter alia, that on being satisfied that the purchase of any Native Land has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the Native Land Act, 1909, the Governor-General may issue a Proclamation that such land has become Crown land:

And whereas the purchase of the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown, under the authority of the Native Land Act 1909, and its amendments:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority so conferred upon me by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim that the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has become Crown land.

SCHEDULE.

OAMARU 2b No. 6 Block, Waioeka Survey District: Approximate area, 337 acres 2 roods 14 perches.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 31st day of January, 1928.

Altering Boundaries of Waipara and Amuri Counties, and including Area in Hurunui Riding, Waipara County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section fourteen of the Counties Act, 1920, that the boundaries of any one or more counties may be altered in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Council of each of such counties in which the Counties Act is in force:

And whereas a resolution was passed by the Waipara County Council on the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, praying for the alteration of the boundaries of the Waipara and Amuri Counties in the manner described in the said resolution and in the First Schedule hereto:

And whereas a similar resolution was passed by the Amuri County Council on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven:

And whereas it is expedient to make such alterations in accordance with the said resolutions, and that the area to be added to the Waipara County should be included in the Hurunui Riding of that County:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Amuri County, shall be added to and form part of the Waipara County; that the boundaries of the Waipara and Amuri Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Waipara County shall be included in the Hurunui Riding of the said county; and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto:

And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA EXCLUDED FROM AMURI COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN WAIPARA COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point at Harper’s Pass on the main range; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said main range to the Hope Pass; thence south-easterly to a point on the Hope River, the same being distant approximately forty chains westward of the Kiwi River; thence south-westerly to Trig. H (Nigger Head), south-easterly to the northernmost point of Lake Marion, southerly along the east side of the said lake, and by the Marion Stream to Lake Sumner; thence easterly along the northern side of Lake Sumner aforesaid to the confluence of the north branch of the Hurunui River near Trig. S.M.; thence due east for a distance of about three miles and twenty chains, south-easterly to Ben Cliberick on the Mytholm Range, north-easterly for a distance of about two miles and twenty chains to a point on the north-western boundary of Section 32, Square 105, the same being distant about five chains from the north-west corner of the said Section 32, thence south-westerly by the north-western boundaries of the said Section 32, and by 33, 34, 8, 24, 25, 9, and 18, and by the south-western boundary of the said Section 18 (all in Square 105) and its continuation to the centre of the Hurunui River; thence by the centre of that river and the county boundary to Harper’s Pass on the main range, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

WAIPARA COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point at Harper’s Pass on the main range at the source of the Hurunui River; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said main range to the Hope Pass; thence south-easterly to a point on the Hope River, the same being distant approximately forty chains westward of the Kiwi River; thence south-westerly to Trig. H (Nigger Head), south-easterly to the northernmost point of Lake Marion, southerly along the east side of the said lake, and by the Marion Stream to Lake Sumner; thence easterly along the northern side of Lake Sumner aforesaid to the confluence of the north branch of the Hurunui River near Trig. S.M.; thence due east for a distance of about three miles and twenty chains, south-easterly to Ben Cliberick on the Mytholm Range, north-easterly for a distance of about two miles and twenty chains to a point on the north-western boundary of Section 32, Square 105, the same being distant about five chains from the north-west corner of the said Section 32; thence south-westerly by the north-western boundaries of the said Section 32 and by 33, 34, 8, 24, 25, 9, and 18, and by the south-western boundary of the said Section 18 (all in Square 105), and its continuation to the centre of the Hurunui River; thence easterly following down the centre of that river to the south Pacific Ocean; thence south-westerly along high-water mark to the mouth of the River Waipara; thence westerly and north-westerly by a line along the middle of the Waipara River and its south branch to its source; thence by a straight line north-westerly to Block Hill, and again north-westerly from Block Hill to Ashley Head, thence northerly following the top of the ranges to Esk Head, and from thence westerly and north-westerly along the top of the Dampier Range and the Snowy Ranges to the summit of the Southern Alps (the main range); thence returning along the summit to the point of commencement at Harper’s Pass.

AMURI COUNTY.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-east by Marlborough County, Awatere County, and Kaikoura County, from Top House to the confluence of the Gelt and Conway Rivers; thence south-westerly by a straight line to Mount Parnassus; thence westerly by a straight line to the nearest of the Lowry Peaks; thence south-westerly along the summit of that range to the Hurunui River; thence by a line in continuation to a point in the centre of the said river; thence along the north-eastern boundary of the Waipara County, hereinbefore described, to the Hope Pass on the main range; thence north-easterly along the summit of the Spencer and St. Arnaud Ranges to the Top House, the point of commencement.

THIRD SCHEDULE.

HURUNUI RIDING.—WAIPARA COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Waipara County bounded on the north-east generally from the Hope Pass to the confluence of the Hurunui and Waitohi Rivers by the Amuri County boundaries hereinbefore described; thence towards the south-east generally by the last-mentioned river to the Medbury Road; thence by that road to Mason’s Road; thence by Mason’s Road to Reserve Road, intersecting Rural Section No. 25691; thence by the last-mentioned road to the Heathstock—Horsley Downs Road, and by that road to the north branch of the Waipara River; thence by the right bank of that river to its source; thence by a road running in a south-westerly direction to a tributary of the Okuku River; and thence by the left bank of that tributary and of the Okuku River to the county boundary; thence towards the south-west generally
