Details: The radio beacon service has been resumed.

Notice to Mariners No. 65 of 1928.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—HAWKE’S BAY.—WAIKOKOPU.
(1) Wharf light destroyed.
(2) Wharf berthing signals amended.
Position: Lat. 39° 04′ S., long. 177° 50′ E. (approx.).
(1) Former Notice: Wellington Notice No. 37 of 1928.
Details: The sectored light, recently re-established on the roof of the shelter-shed on the wharf at Waikokopu Creek Mouth at a position 240 ft. from the wharf-end, has been destroyed.
(2) Details: The following wharf berthing signals are now in use:—
Wharf berthing signals, made by square flags, are exhibited from a flagpole on the wharf—
White: Ship may come alongside wharf; men in attendance.
Red: Ship must not come to wharf.
White over red: Ship must send boat to shore.
Red over white: Will communicate with ship by morse lamp-flashing after sunset.
P: Ship to proceed on voyage.

Notice to Mariners No. 66 of 1928.

DOMINION OF NEW ZEALAND.—CHATHAM ISLANDS.
General Information.
Position: Port Waitangi, in lat. 43° 57′ S., long. 176° 31′ W (approx.).
Details: The Commodore commanding New Zealand Station submits the following information:—
(1) A breaking shoal (in heavy weather) is stated to exist 7 miles S.W. off the Horns (Cape Eveque).
(2) Fishing banks, with depths of about 20 fathoms, are reported by fishermen in following positions:—
15 miles 327 deg. from Eastern Reef Inlet (Ahuru).
5¼ miles 313 deg. ,, ,,
3¾ miles 281 deg. ,, ,,
6·9 miles 002½ deg. ,, ,,
(3) A rock with 5 fathoms on it is reported on west side of Pitt Island, 018 deg. 4·5 miles from Round Rock.
(4) A rock is reported in position 035 deg. 5·7 miles from Sentry Reef.
(5) Foul ground is reported between 055½ deg. 11·8 miles and 055¼ deg. 13·6 miles from Sentry Reef, and about 1 mile broad N.W./S.E. direction.
(6) Cape Young, for a radius of 4 miles from extremity of Cape Young between bearings 037 deg. and 310 deg. from the Cape, is reported foul. (N.Z. Pilot, page 482.)
