Dismissals from the Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the dismissal of the undermentioned soldiers of the Territorial Force from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, they having been convicted by the Civil power :—

No. 9/B/3068 Private F. J. Waters, 1st Battalion, Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment. Dated 22nd September, 1928.

No. 7A/2249 Private A. Lynch, 1st Battalion, The Hauraki Regiment. Dated 24th September, 1928.

Summer Time.

IT is hereby notified for general information that under the Summer Time Act, 1928, summer time commences at 2 o’clock in the morning of Sunday next, the 14th instant, and ends at 2 o’clock in the morning of Sunday, the 17th day of March, 1929.

For the purpose of giving effect to the Act, the time will therefore be advanced thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. on Sunday next, and be put back thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. on Sunday, the 17th day of March, 1929.

New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, 1917.—Closing of Registers.

AMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Amuri, taken on the 12th day of September, 1928, on the proposal of the Amuri County Council to borrow the sum of £3,075 for the purpose of constructing county office and store-sheds, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 270; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 177.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XI, Rotoiti Survey District, for the Purposes of a Quarry.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a quarry—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Okere Falls, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 12 acres 2 roods 27·5 perches.

Being portion of 3B No. 3B, Whakapoungakau Block.

Situated in Block XI, Rotoiti Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 24830.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D 72993, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-order and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand in connection with the Great Royal Hungarian Money Lottery.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the institutions or organizations, whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder, are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said organizations or institutions shall be issued and that no postal packet addressed to the said organizations or institutions (either by their own or any fictitious or assumed name) or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
