and white flint. Nearly all gum land and pipe-clay on clay
formation. Clumps of shelter bush. Well watered by several
good creeks. Altitude, 750 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level.
Section 14 : About 10 acres grass, 40 acres tea-tree, fern,
and grass, 80 acres tea-tree scrub, 20 acres bush; balance
fern and grass ; 150 chains of fencing (average five wires, fair
condition). Buildings consist of kauri dwelling of two rooms,
scullery, and small room, three rooms papered, scullery
match-lined, iron chimney, Orion stove; also old split-paling
cowshed.
Sections 16 and 9 : About 90 acres scattered bush ; balance
fern with little grass, mostly rough feed, 210 chains of fencing
(average five to six wires, fair condition). No buildings.
Section getting bad with blackberry.

Opening Settlement Land in North Auckland Land District
for Selection.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the
Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the fifth day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rental
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that
the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-SETTLEMENT LAND.--
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Rodney County.--Pakiri Survey District.--Waiteitei Settlement.
SECTION 3s : Area, 154 acres. Capital value, £405 ; £135*.
Half-yearly rent, £10 2s. 6d.; £8 14s. 10d.†

  • Valuation for buildings.
    † Half-yearly instalment of interest and principal on buildings consisting of three-roomed dwelling, 24 ft. by 20 ft., iron
    chimney, roof malthoid and iron, poor condition ; shed, 10 ft.
    by 12 ft.; and another small shed; valued at £135. This
    amount to be paid for in cash, or in ten years by twenty
    half-yearly instalments of £8 14s. 10d. Total half-yearly
    payment on lease, £18 17s. 4d.
    The section is situated about five miles and a half from
    Wellsford and one mile and a half from Waiteitei School.
    Access road is metalled three miles, two miles and a half
    formed clay road. There are about 114 acres in worn-out
    pasture and scrub, and 40 acres poor wiwi swamp. All gum
    land, watered by swamp and springs. There is a fair amount
    of gorse and some blackberry. The property is ring fenced--
    four wires and battens, 3½ posts to the chain (in fair condition).
    Subdivided into seven paddocks, with approximately 200
    chains of fencing—4 wires and battens, 3 posts per chain (in
    poor condition).

    Warrant apportioning the Cost of maintaining Portion of the
    Waihi Beach Road.

    I N pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
    vested in me by sections one hundred and nine and one
    hundred and twenty of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of
    all other powers and authorities in anyway enabling me in
    that behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
    Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
    hereby direct that the cost of maintaining the portion of road
    described in the Schedule hereto (whether heretofore incurred
    since the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and
    twenty-eight, or hereafter to be incurred) shall be borne by
    the Waihi Borough Council and the Ohinemuri County Council
    in the following proportions—viz., The Waihi Borough Council
    shall pay ninety per centum and the Ohinemuri County
    Council shall pay ten per centum of such cost respectively,
    provided that the total amount to be contributed by the
    Ohinemuri County Council shall not exceed the sum of fifty
    pounds in any one year:
    And I do hereby further direct that any contribution
    hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Ohinemuri
    County Council shall be paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, to the Waihi Borough Council
    out of the funds of the said County Council, within a period
    of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf
    of the Waihi Borough Council, and such payments shall be
    made from time to time to the Clerk of the Waihi Borough
    Council for and on behalf of the said County Council.
    SCHEDULE.
    THAT portion of the Waihi Beach Road, in the Auckland Land
    District, from its junction with the Waihi to Tauranga Road
    to its first intersection with the boundary between the Ohinemuri and Tauranga Counties. As the said portion of road is
    more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.
    29857, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works,
    at Wellington, and thereon marked "A-B."
    As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 30th day of August, 1928.

    Altering Constitution of the Transport Appeal Board for No. 8
    Motor-omnibus District.

    I N pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me
    by section sixteen of the Motor-omnibus Traffic Act,
    1926, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise
    enabling me in this behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson,
    Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
    do hereby revoke the appointment made under my hand on
    the fourteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and
    twenty-eight, of Reginald Trevor-Smith, as member of the
    Transport Appeal Board, No. 8 Motor-omnibus District, and
    do hereby appoint Alexander Dinnie, District Engineer,
    Public Works Department, Napier, as member of the said
    Board, being one representative of the Government.
    As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 3rd day
    of September, 1928.

    vested in me by section fifty-five of the Cemeteries Act,
    1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
    the Waitemata County Council to be trustees to provide for
    the maintenance and care of the Waikiteroa Public Cemetery,
    as described in the Schedule hereto.
    SCHEDULE.
    ALLOTMENT 249, Parish of Takapuna, North Auckland Land
    District : Area, 17 acres 1 rood 31 perches, more or less.

    Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
    amend in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule
    hereto the Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations
    for the New Zealand Military Forces published in the New
    Zealand Gazette dated the sixth day of August, one thousand
    nine hundred and twenty-five; and I do hereby declare that
    the amendments hereby made shall take effect as from the date
    of publication thereof in the Gazette.
