WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Act, 1924, and their Amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, for street purposes, Bowen Street and Lambton Quay—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk of the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such land should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.

APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Naseby.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, we, the undersigned, Charles Augustus Brown and Alfred Vincent Arthur, both of Ida Valley, Farmers, hereby apply for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 11 a.m., 17/7/28.

Date and number of miner’s right: Brown: 4/5/28, No. 24108; Arthur: 16/7/28, No. 24131.

Address for service: Care of J. I. Fraser, Solicitor, Ranfurly.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points: Out of the Idaburn Creek, commencing in Section 23, Block XV, Blackstone District; thence in a south-westerly direction through said Block XV to the terminal point in Section 6, Block XV.

Length and intended course of race: 2 miles; south-westerly.

Points of intake: One; Out of Idaburn Creek, Section 23, Block XV.

Estimated time and cost of construction: One month; £100.

Mean depth and breadth: Depth 9 in.; width 1 ft. 6 in.

Number of heads to be diverted: Six.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation.

Proposed term of license: Twenty-one years.

VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the matter of a company called SALESMEN LIMITED.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 223 of the Companies Act, 1908, that on the 1st day of August, 1928, the above-mentioned company passed the following extraordinary resolution:—

(a) “That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the members that this company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be would up voluntarily.”

(b) The duly appointed Liquidator is WILLIAM VALENTINE WORTH, Esq., whose address is care of Messrs. Chambers, Worth, and Chambers, Public Accountants, Shortland Street, Auckland.

[NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR ROAD.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Manukau County Council proposes, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, and its amendments, to execute a public work—namely, the construction of a public road through Mataitai No. 1A Section 2B No. 5A Block—and for the purpose of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the said road and of the land required to be taken is deposited for public inspection at the office of the Manukau County Council Chambers, corner Shortland and Princes Streets, Auckland: And notice is hereby further given that all persons affected by the execution of such public work or by the taking of such land shall, if they have any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Council Office, Auckland.

SCHEDULE.

Approximate area of land required to be taken: 28 perches, being part of Mataitai No. 1A Section 2B No. 5A Block, situated in Block IV, Wairoa Survey District, and shown coloured red on said plan. (Plan No. 24735.)

NOTICE is hereby given that at a general meeting of shareholders held in the company’s registered office at Auckland on Thursday, 9th August, 1928, the following resolution was passed:—

“That it is proved to the satisfaction of the company that it cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that Mr. H. F. O. TWIGDEN, Public Accountant, be appointed, and is hereby appointed, Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas-lighting Board hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £21,900, authorized to be raised by the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas-lighting Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of extinguishing the Board’s overdraft existing on the 24th day of November, 1927 (being the day of commencement of the Petone and Lower Hutt
