of the Borough of Westport was affixed by order of the said
Council in the presence of—

In pursuance of the By-laws Act, 1910, I hereby confirm
the above-written by-law, and declare that the same came
into force on the 1st day of July, 1928.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its
Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops
within the Borough of Gore.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops within the
Borough of Gore, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour,
desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed
in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays,
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on
Saturdays at 8 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1)
Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition
observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then
and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such
shop shall be 5.30 p.m., and the closing-hour on Friday for
any such shop shall be 8 p.m. ; (2) on the working-day im-
mediately preceding (a) Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New
Year’s Day, or (b) any period during which a majority of the
shops affected by this requisition are closed for the whole of
two consecutive days (including Sunday), either in accordance
with custom, or Proclamation by the Governor-General, or
Act of Parliament, or declaration by the Government, or
request of the Mayor, the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.
And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the
signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the
occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921–22, I, for and on behalf of the Minister
of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 27th day of
August, 1928, all the butchers’ shops within the Borough of
Gore shall be closed accordingly.

within the Borough of Greytown.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops within the
Borough of Greytown, has been forwarded to the Minister of
Labour, desiring that all such shops within the said borough
be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30
p.m., and on Fridays at 8 p.m. :
And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the
signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the
occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921–22, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of
Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 27th day of

The notice dated the 13th October, 1905, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th October, 1905, fixing the
closing-hours of certain shops in the Borough of Greytown
shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the
shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming
into operation of this notice.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Katikati Survey
District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute
a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—
and for the purposes of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice
is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required
to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Athenree,
and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected
by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of
the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objec-
tions to the execution of the said public work or to the taking
of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
38·6 perches.
Being portion of Section 1.
Situated in Block I, Katikati Survey District (Auckland

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 72725,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute
a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—
and for the purposes of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is
hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to

Disestablishment of Oamaru Technical Classes and Transfer
of Control.
Education Department,
Wellington, 31st July, 1928.
IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act,
1914, and with the powers thereunder, I, Robert
Alexander Wright, Minister of Education, do hereby direct
that from the 1st day of January, 1928, the control of the
Oamaru Technical Classes, exercised previous to that date
by the Otago Education Board as controlling authority of
the classes and the immediate control of the Oamaru Technical
Classes exercised previous to that date by the Board of
Managers of such technical classes, shall pass to the Waitaki
High School Board ; and that from the aforesaid 1st day of
January, 1928, the Board of Managers of the Oamaru
Technical Classes shall be and shall be deemed to be dis-
solved, and that all their property, rights, and liabilities,
together with the property, rights, and liabilities of the Otago
Education Board in respect of the said technical classes, shall
thereupon vest in and become the property, rights, and lia-
bilities of the Waitaki High School Board.
