THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in
exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any
such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality
of exchange:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it
is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First
Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule
hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second
Schedule has agreed to such exchange:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers
and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant
in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First
Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land
described in the Second Schedule.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing 64 acres
2 roods 38 perches, more or less, being Section 76, Square 46,
Block XIV, Motupiko Survey District: As the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 25/777A,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey,
at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE
THEREFOR.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District containing 80 acres
2 roods 20 perches, more or less, being part of Sections 22,
Square 46, and 102, Square 46, Block XIII, Motupiko
Survey District, commencing at the south corner of Sec-
tion 102, Square 46, and bounded towards the north-east
by a road, 525·6 links; towards the south-east by a
remaining part of Section 22, 996·29 links, and a road along
the shore of Lake Rotoiti, approximately 2540 links; towards
the south and west by a part of the before-mentioned Sec-
tion 22, 1505·29 links and 3166·61 links, respectively; to-
wards the north and north-west by a remaining part of Sec-
tion 22 aforesaid, 2144 links, and a remaining part of Section
102 aforesaid, 431·93 links, to a road; again towards the
north-east and east generally by a road, 2404·99 links, to the
point of commencement; save and except that portion
coloured yellow containing 1 rood 29 perches: As the same
is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S.
25/777B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

IN pursuance of the authority conferred on me by section
fifty-seven of the Samoa Act, 1921, I, General Sir Charles
Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby wholly disallow the Port and Customs
Service Tax Ordinance, 1928, being Ordinance No. 4, 1928,
of Western Samoa, assented to by the Administrator of
Western Samoa on the twenty-seventh day of April, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 24th day of July, 1928.

Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the
New Zealand Military Forces amended.—Amendments
No. 23.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority
conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amend-
ments, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend
in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule
hereto the Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations
for the New Zealand Military Forces, published in the New
Zealand Gazette dated the sixth day of August, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-five; and I do hereby declare
that the amendments hereby made shall take effect as from
the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
FINANCIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ALLOWANCE REGULATIONS
FOR THE NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.
SECTION II.
- PARAGRAPH 43—
(a) Line 3: After “Forces” add “and Cadets at the
Royal Military Colleges.”
(b) Schedule: After “2nd Lieutenant” add a new line
as follows: “Cadets at Royal Military Colleges,
£52 per annum.”
SECTION III.
Uniform Allowance—Permanent Forces.
- Paragraph 54—
Line 8: After “enlistment” change the full-stop to a
comma, and add: “or, in the case of a non-com-
missioned officer promoted from the rank of sergeant,
the higher rate of £7 10s. will not be payable until
twelve months after date of promotion, the lower rate
obtaining in the meantime.”

Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby

Dominion of New Zealand, published in the New Zealand
Gazette dated the twenty-fifth day of May, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty-seven; and I do hereby declare that the
amendments hereby made shall take effect as from date of
publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR THE MILITARY FORCES OF THE DOMINION
OF NEW ZEALAND.
SECTION II.
Director of Artillery.
- PARAGRAPH 28: Add at the end: “The Director of
Artillery will issue such orders as may be necessary to carry
out these duties. Instructions of a purely technical nature
may be issued by him direct to Officers Commanding R.N.Z.A.
in Commands. Orders on other matters will pass through
Commands.”
Staff Officer in Charge of a Regimental District.
- Paragraph 45: Add at the end of subparagraph (b) and
after “district” in subparagraph (e) the words “other than
personnel of artillery units.”
Officer Commanding, Royal N.Z. Artillery in a Command.
- Paragraph 48: Add at the end of subparagraph (c) the
words “and be responsible for the training and efficiency of
all Artillery Units and personnel in the Command.”
Confidential Reports.
- Paragraph 81; subparagraph (b), line 8: After the
word “District” add “(in the case of R.N.Z.A., through the
O.C., R.N.Z.A. of the Command).”
SECTION III.
Appointments to First Commissions in Territorial Force.

Paragraph 105, last line: After the word “thereat”
add “from the Officer-in-Charge of the Course.” -
Paragraph 107, line 3: After the word “Districts” add
“(in Artillery Units, through the O.C., R.N.Z.A. of the
Command).”
SECTION V.
Trainees enlisting in Navy.
- Paragraphs 307 and 308 are hereby revoked and the
following substituted:—
“307. Trainees on enlistment into the N.Z. Division of the
Royal Navy will be transferred to the “Serving in Navy
List,” and whilst serving in a Naval Unit will be exempt
from military training. On enlistment as above, their per-
sonal files will be transferred to No. 1 Regimental District.
On ceasing to be a member of the N.Z. Division of the
Royal Navy, a person who is still liable for military training
will be transferred by the Staff Officer i/c No. 1 Regimental
