INSURANCE COMPANIES’ DEPOSITS ACT, 1921–22.

SOUTHERN UNION GENERAL INSURANCE COMPANY OF AUSTRALASIA, LTD.

Notice of Withdrawal of Deposit.

THE SOUTHERN UNION GENERAL INSURANCE COMPANY OF AUSTRALASIA, LIMITED, has given notice to the Public Trustee, pursuant to the provisions of the Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1921–22—

  1. That the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, has sold to the Royal Exchange Assurance Corporation of London all its fire, employers’ liability, and accident insurance business in New Zealand.

  2. That the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, has ceased to carry on in New Zealand the business of fire insurance, employers’ liability insurance, and all other classes of insurance business within the meaning of the Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1921–22.

  3. That the Royal Exchange Assurance Corporation of London has undertaken to accept all liability arising under any policies (except marine) issued by the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, or under any renewals of such policies.

  4. That the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, proposes to withdraw its deposit of £35,000 in respect of fire insurance, employers’ liability insurance, and other classes of insurance business within the meaning of the Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1921–22.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice that the said sum of £35,000, deposited with the Public Trustee pursuant to the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, will be repaid to the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, on or after the 7th day of December, 1928, unless the Public Trustee is satisfied before that date that any liability of the Southern Union General Insurance Company of Australasia, Limited, in respect of fire, employers’ liability, and other classes of insurance business within the meaning of the Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1921–22, has not been fully liquidated or provided for.

PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Petone Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £800, authorized to be raised by the Petone Borough Council under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of completing the drainage of the surface-water from the western hills, in respect of which undertaking a special loan of £8,000 raised in 1926 has proved insufficient, the said Petone Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of thirteen five-hundred-and-twelfths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within that portion of the Borough of Petone known as the Eastern Special-rating Area, as defined in a resolution of the Petone Borough Council passed on the 14th day of December, 1914, upon the basis of the unimproved value of such property; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-four years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the matter of a company called DRURY POTTERIES, LIMITED.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 223 of the Companies Act, 1908, that on the 26th day of June, 1928, the above-named company passed the following resolution :—

“That the Company be wound up voluntarily.”
