Appointment of Officer under Part II of the Fisheries Act, 1908.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed
Henry John Trethowen,
of Kauaeranga Valley, Thames, to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act, in respect of the Auckland Acclimatization District.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Borough of Waitara.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Borough of Waitara and included in the County of Clifton. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF WAITARA AND INCLUDED IN COUNTY OF CLIFTON.
ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Suburban Section 8, Waitara East District, Block I, Waitara Survey District; thence along the northern and north-eastern boundaries of said Section 8 and the northern boundary of Suburban Section 9, Waitara East District, to the western side of Elliot Street; thence along the western side of Elliot Street to the southernmost corner of the said Section 9; thence along the northern side of the Main North Road and Bayly Street to the south-western corner of the aforesaid Section 8; thence along the western boundaries of the said Section 8 to its north-western corner, the point of commencement.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Ashburton of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Grocer.
WHEREAS a petition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops within the Borough of Ashburton has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer—namely, tea, sugar, candles, starch, soap (other than toilet soap), blue, rice, sago, tapioca, mustard, spices, pepper, salt, jellies, jam, currants, raisins, sultanas, and candied peel—be prohibited during such time as the shops in such trade are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, or of any award :
And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of June, 1928, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m., on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 12.30 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Blenheim.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Blenheim pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of June, 1928, all tobacconists’ shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) On the working-day first preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day first preceding New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (2) on the working-day first preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9.30 p.m.: (3) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 21 (b) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and section 10 (b) of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, any day other than Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Friday, if such day is not observed as the statutory closing-day, shall be 6 p.m. and the closing-hour on Saturday shall be 9.30 p.m.
The notice dated the 3rd September, 1919, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 4th September, 1919, fixing the closing-hours of hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Blenheim shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the said borough, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other shops within the said borough in which smoking requisites are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set out herein for tobacconists’ shops.

Varying Notification in respect of Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, Whangarei Acclimatization District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Francis Joseph Rolleston, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby vary the notification made under the said Act, dated the 14th day of March, 1928, and gazetted on the same day, declaring an open season for imported game and native game in the Whangarei Acclimatization District, by excluding from the area last described in the Second Schedule to the said notification the properties of Messrs. Clapham, Patterson, and Johns, of Paranui Hill, Whangarei.
