Inspector of Scenic Reserve appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section four of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Alexander John Duncan

to be an Inspector under the said Act in respect to the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—ELSTHORPE SCENIC RESERVE.

SECTIONS 30 and 32, Block VII, Oero Survey District: Area, 91 acres 3 roods 9 perches.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of April, 1928.

Vesting the Control of Lake Rotoiti Scenic Reserves in a Scenic Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirty-three of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1919, section thirty-one of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1922, and section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby vest the control of the reserves described in the Schedule hereto (being land subject to the last-mentioned Act) for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under that Act) in the undermentioned persons, namely:—

Morehu te Kirikau,
Wirihana Tamati,
Revd. Ereatara Mohi te Tikao,
Heemi te Uara,
Hemi (Jimmy) Ratema, and
The Government Tourist Agent at Rotorua, (ex officio),

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Lake Rotoiti Scenic Board (herein referred to as "the Board"), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Monday, the seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at Otaremarae, Rotoiti, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the first Monday in each month at the place aforesaid, or at such time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

  2. The Chairman shall have an original as well as a casting vote, and shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days' notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  7. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  9. The Board shall control the said reserves in accordance with the provisions of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of the regulations made thereunder.

Situated in Blocks V and IX, Rotoma Survey District, and Blocks VII, VIII, XI, and XII, Rotoiti Survey District, Auckland Land District.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/215, and deposited under No. 1891 in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington.

Also all that area in the Auckland Land District, containing 52 acres 3 roods 6 perches, more or less, being part of Rotoiti Township, Block IX, Rotoma Survey District: Bounded towards the north by part of Lot 2 of Rotoiti Nos. 6 and 7C Block (Scenic Reserve), 2029.7 links; towards the east by aforesaid part Lot 2 of Rotoiti Nos. 6 and 7C and scenic reserve, 2500 links; towards the south generally by a public road, 733.3 and 261.35 links; across aforesaid public road, 100 links; and towards the north generally by part of Rotoiti Township, 244.3 and 715.4 links; again towards the east by scenic reserve (Block IX, Rotoma Survey District) aforesaid, 845 links; towards the south by Lot 2, Tautara Block, and Tautara-Papakainga Block, 1734.6 links; again towards the west, south, and east generally by part of Rotoiti Township aforesaid, 391.3, 769.2, and 190.5 links, respectively; again towards the south by aforesaid Tautara-Papakainga Block, 50 links; towards the west by Rotoiti Township aforesaid, 199.6 links; across a public road, 113.5 links; and again towards the west, north, north-east, north, and west generally by aforesaid Rotoiti Township, 1286.1,
