Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE.

KEIR JOHNSTON DOUGALL, Esquire, of Perth, Western Australia, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, has this day been appointed by the Honourable Sir Charles Perrin Skerrett, K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in the State of Western Australia, under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Dated at Wellington, this 31st day of March, 1928.

Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :

William John Henry Dashwood, Esquire,

to be the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Pahiatua, for the purpose of the Electoral Act, 1927, as from the 1st day of April, 1928.

James Selwyn Mosley, Esquire,

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Riverton, for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, and Clerk of the Warden’s Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue, and Mining Registrar at Riverton for the Otago Mining District, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926, as from the 1st day of April, 1928.

Arthur James Bannister, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Heriot, as from the 21st March, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant A. M. Linton, 1st Field Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 7th March, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant F. J. Cook is transferred from the 10th Field Battery to the 16th Pack Battery (How.) with seniority as from the 15th September, 1927. Dated 13th March, 1928.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Northern Depot.

2nd Lieutenant K. H. Melvin to be Lieutenant. Dated 8th November, 1927.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

Lieutenant C. Mackley, 1st Battalion, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 10th March, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant H. Agmen-Smith ceases to be seconded to the 4th C Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion, with his original seniority. Dated 5th March, 1928.

The North Auckland Regiment.

Captain J. Finlayson, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission, on appointment to the N.Z. Permanent Staff. Dated 13th March, 1928.

The Waikato Regiment.

Charles Melville Newton to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is seconded for duty with the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 12th March, 1928.

The Wellington Regiment.

Lieutenant W. E. Bennett ceases to be seconded to the 2nd C Battalion, and is seconded for duty with the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 8th March, 1928.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants. Dated 14th September, 1927.

Clyde Coldstream Campbell, 1st Battalion.

Robert Eric Broberg, and is seconded for duty with the 4th C Battalion.

Hector Alexander McAulay, and is seconded for duty with the 2nd C Battalion.

Thomas William Roy Gibson, and is seconded for duty with the 4th C Battalion.

Albert Vincent Scanlon to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is seconded for duty with the 1st C Battalion. Dated 13th March, 1928.

The Wellington West Coast Regiment.

Howard Jackson Dalzell to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is seconded for duty with the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 10th February, 1928.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

Charles Wingate McConnell to be Bandmaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant, 1st Battalion. Dated 10th February, 1928.

The Taranaki Regiment.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants :

Alfred Ernest Gilliver, 1st Battalion. Dated 21st February, 1928.

Garnett John Clarke, 1st Battalion. Dated 21st February, 1928.

John Alexander Douglas Iverach, M.B. (late 2nd Lieutenant, Retired List), to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Otago University Company, N.Z.M.C. Dated 5th March, 1928.

The Reverend D. C. Herron, M.C., Chaplain, 4th Class, to be Chaplain, 3rd Class. Dated 18th January, 1926.
