Declaring the Roads and Streets mentioned in the Schedule hereunder to be Main Highways.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 2nd day of April, 1928.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that as and from the date of this Order in Council the roads or portions of roads and the streets or portion of streets enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall become main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 1.

Waimauku – West Coast.

All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County commencing at its junction with the Auckland–Helensville Main Highway at Waimauku and proceeding generally in a south-westerly direction and terminating at Muriwai Beach, being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71487, and thereon coloured red.

Takapuna–Silverdale.

All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County, commencing at the northern boundary of the Borough of Takapuna, and proceeding generally in a north-westerly direction, and terminating at its junction with the Auckland–Maungaturoto Main Highway at Silverdale, being a distance of 13 miles 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71487, and thereon coloured red.

Warkworth–Leigh.

All that road or portion of road in the Rodney County, commencing at its junction with the Auckland–Maungaturoto Main Highway at Warkworth, and proceeding generally in a north-easterly direction, via Matakana and Omaha, and terminating at Leigh Wharf, being a distance of 15 miles, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71488, and thereon coloured red.

Onewa Road.

All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County, commencing at the western boundary of the Borough of Northcote, and proceeding generally in a westerly direction and terminating at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Birkenhead, being a distance of 20 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71487, and thereon coloured red.

Also all that street or portion of street in the Borough of Birkenhead, commencing at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Birkenhead, and proceeding generally in a westerly direction via Onewa Road, and terminating at its junction with the Auckland–Wainui, via Birkenhead, Main Highway in the said Borough of Birkenhead, being a distance of 25 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71287, and thereon coloured red.

Also all that street or portion of street in the Northcote Borough, commencing at its junction with Northcote Road, and proceeding generally in a westerly direction, and terminating at the western boundary of the Borough of Northcote, being a distance of 50 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71287, and thereon coloured red.

Northcote Road.

All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County, commencing at the south-western boundary of the Borough of Takapuna, and proceeding generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at the north-eastern boundary of the Borough of Northcote, being a distance of 20 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71487, and thereon coloured red.

Also all that street or portion of street in the Borough of Northcote commencing at the north-eastern boundary of the said Borough of Northcote, and proceeding generally in a southerly direction along Northcote Road and Queen Street, and terminating at the southern boundary of the Borough of Northcote, being a distance of 3 miles 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71287, and thereon coloured blue.

B

Titirangi Road.

All that road or portion of road in the New Lynn Town District and the Waitemata County, commencing at its junction with the Auckland–Helensville Main Highway (Great North Road) in the New Lynn Town District, and proceeding generally in a southerly direction via Titirangi Road, and terminating at a point opposite the Titirangi Post-office, being a distance of 3 miles, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71487, and thereon coloured red.

Paparoa–Pahi.

All that road or portion of road in the Otamatea County, commencing at its junction with the Dargaville–Maungaturoto Main Highway at Paparoa, in Section 104, Block XI, Paparoa Parish, and proceeding generally in a southerly direction, and terminating at a point opposite the Pahi Post-office, being a distance of 4 miles 20 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71489, and thereon coloured red.

Kaiwaka – Kaiwaka Station.

All that road or portion of road in the Otamatea County, commencing at its junction with the Wayby–Maungaturoto Main Highway at the north-eastern corner of Section 135, Block III, Otamatea Survey District, Kaiwaka Township, and proceeding generally in a westerly direction, and terminating at a point opposite the southern end of the Kaiwaka Railway-station, being a distance of 1 mile, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71489, and thereon coloured red.

Otonga–Opua whanga.

All that road or portion of road in the Whangarei County, commencing at its junction with the Whangarei–Kawakawa Main Highway near the eastern boundary of N.W. 33, Block XII, Hukerenui Survey District, and proceeding generally in a north-easterly direction via Otonga, and terminating at a point opposite the Opua whanga Hall, at the south-eastern corner of Section 12, Block IV, Opua whanga Survey District, being a distance of 6 miles, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71490, and thereon coloured red.

Whangarei–Tameterau.

All that road or portion of road in the Whangarei County, commencing at the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Whangarei, and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction, via Onerahi, and terminating at a point opposite the Tameterau School at the western corner of Section 78, Block XIV, Whangarei Survey District, being a distance of 8 miles, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71490, and thereon coloured red.

Long’s Corner – Tauraroa.

All that road or portion of road in the Whangarei County, commencing at its junction with the Whangarei–Oakleigh Main Highway at Long’s Corner, and proceeding generally in a south-westerly direction via Maungakaramea, and terminating at the Tauraroa School at a point opposite the north-eastern corner of Section 56, Block VIII, Tangihua Survey District, being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71490, and thereon coloured red.

Kamo – Hikurangi Bridge.

All that road or portion of road in the Kamo Town District and the Whangarei County, commencing at the junction of the Ruatangata–Kamo Road and the Whangarei–Kawakawa Main Highway in the Kamo Town District, and proceeding generally in a north-westerly direction, and terminating at the Hikurangi Bridge, being a distance of 18 miles 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71490, and thereon coloured red.

Kaikohe Railway-station Road.

All that road or portion of road in the Kaikohe Town District, commencing at its junction with the Waimamaku–Ohaeawai Main Highway and proceeding generally in a southerly direction through the Township of Kaikohe and terminating at the Kaikohe Railway-station, being a distance of 40 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71492, and thereon coloured red.

Okaihau Station Road.

All that road or portion of road in the Bay of Islands County, commencing at its junction with the Okaihau–Horeke Road at the Okaihau Post-office and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at the Okaihau Railway-station, being a distance of 60 chains, more or less. Shown on plan P.W.D. 71492, and thereon coloured red.
