WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTIONS MAKING SPECIAL RATES.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Wanganui City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
Loan of £34,400.
That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £34,400, authorized to be raised by the Wanganui City Council under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, for the purpose (together with accrued sinking funds) of paying off the following special loans falling due on the 1st day of March, 1928—namely, (1) A special loan of £40,000 raised by the Wanganui Borough Council in the year 1906 for the purpose of constructing under the Tramways Act, 1894, and other Acts enabling it in that behalf, an electric tramway along the streets of the borough and outside the borough to a point in the Waitotara County on the River-bank Road, and the providing of electric tramcars, power-house, car-shed, and all land, buildings, machinery, appliances, plant, apparatus, and things necessary or convenient for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, and working such tramway, and for the extension of such tramway and all things incidental thereto or used in connection therewith; (2) a special loan of £5,000 raised by the Wanganui Borough Council in the year 1908 for the purpose of the construction under the Tramways Act, 1894, and other Acts enabling it in that behalf, of an electric tramway along the streets of the said borough and outside the borough to a point in the Waitotara County on the River-bank Road, and the providing of electric tramcars, power-house, car-shed, and all land, buildings, machinery, appliances, plant, apparatus, and things necessary or convenient for the purpose of erecting, maintaining, and working the said tramway, and for the extension of such tramway and all things incidental thereto or used in connection therewith; (3) a special loan of £12,000 raised by the Wanganui Borough Council in the year 1913 for the purpose of constructing under the Tramways Act, 1908, and other Acts enabling it in that behalf, of an electric tramway in extension of the existing electric tramway in the Borough of Wanganui along certain streets in the said borough commencing at the junction or intersection of the River-bank Road with Kaikokopu Road, along or through a subway to be constructed under the abutments of the railway-bridge, a distance of about seven chains from the said junction or intersection of the said Kaikokopu Road and the River-bank Road to the southern side of the railway-line; thence along the said subway for a distance of about seven chains from the northern side of the said railway-line to the River-bank Road; thence along the said River-bank Road for a distance of about one hundred and six chains to the junction or intersection of the River-bank Road and Quick Avenue, and for the construction of the said subway for the said distance on either side of the said railway-line and under the said railway-bridge according to plans, designs, and specifications to be prepared by the Engineer to the New Zealand Government Railways, and the necessary approaches thereto, and for the extension of such tramway and all things incidental thereto or used in connection therewith, the Wanganui City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-tenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the City of Wanganui, the boundaries whereof are defined in the New Zealand Gazette of the 12th day of August, 1926, Number 53, at pages 2500 and 2501, and that such special rate shall be
