Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

Wellington, 24th December, 1927.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of the undermentioned Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Colonel (temp. Colonel-Commandant) C. G. Powles, C.M.G., D.S.O. N.Z. Staff Corps, A.D.C. to the King, (S.C.), relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding the Central Command and the temporary rank of Colonel-Commandant, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (a). Dated 15th December, 1927.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. H. Whyte, D.S.O., D.C.M., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of G.S.O.I., Central Command, dated 15th December, 1927, is appointed Officer Commanding the Central Command, vice Colonel Powles, is promoted to the rank of Colonel, and is granted the temporary rank of Colonel-Commandant while so employed. Dated 16th December, 1927.

Lieutenant E. L. Heywood, the Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own), having arrived in the Dominion on exchange from the British Army in India, is granted the local rank of Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 29th February, 1920, dated 15th November, 1927, and is appointed Area Officer, Area 9c, and Adjutant, the Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles, Blenheim. Dated 18th November, 1927.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Andrews, O.B.E., to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 16th December, 1927.

Captain A. E. Conway to be Major. Dated 16th December, 1927.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Mangawhero Survey District for the Purposes of a Native School.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a Native school: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kakatahi, and is there open for inspection, and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land required to be taken:—

1 3 8·5 Being portion of Pukewhakapu 3B No. 4 Block; coloured edged yellow.

2 2 5·0 Being portion of Section 12; coloured edged red.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 70652, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a State forest. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Medbury, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1,883 acres 1 rood.

Being Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and part Sections 6 and 7; situated in Block XIV; Mandamus Survey District.

All in the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 70959, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.
