Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades
Act, 1926, are to be furnished.

Wellington, 14th December, 1927.
PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926,
it is hereby notified that the returns, showing the total
gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-
insurance companies during the year ended 31st December,
1927, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned, in
the manner prescribed by the said section, on or before the
29th February, 1928.

Open Season for Deer-shooting, Grey District Acclimatization
District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Maui Pomare,
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 26th day of
March, 1928, to the 30th day of June, 1928 (both days in-
clusive), to be an open season in the Grey District Acclima-
tization District, described in the First Schedule hereto, for
the taking or killing of the following imported game-viz.,
red-deer stags and hinds and fallow-deer bucks and does-
subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.
1 LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds and
fallow-deer bucks and does may be issued by the Chief
Postmaster at Greymouth, on payment of a license fee of
£2, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto,
and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and
this notification: Provided that not more than one such
license shall be issued to the same person.
2. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing
any person to sell any deer or portion thereof. Ball cartridge
only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-
cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.
3. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either
himself or any attendant he may have with him.
4. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of
deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under
the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 47,
shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition
thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the Secretary
of the Grey District Acclimatization Society, Greymouth,
immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which
such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of
the number of deer shot.
5. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags
and hinds or fallow-deer bucks and does shall authorize the
holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds or
fallow-deer bucks and does on lands actually and exclusively
used by any registered acclimatization society for acclima-
tization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain,
or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.
6. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions
is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Westland Land District bounded
on the north by the Punakaiki or Deadman’s River to its
source on the Paparoa Range; thence by the summit of that
range to Mount Faraday, down the Otututu River and up the
Grey River to the nearest point thereof to Mount Haast;
along a right line to Mount Haast and along the summit of
the southern watershed of the Maruia River to the summit of
the Southern Alps; thence southerly along the summit of the
range to the Hurunui Saddle, the source of the Taramakau
River; thence down the said Taramakau River to the sea-
coast; and thence northerly along the sea-coast to the mouth
of the Punakaiki stream, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).
, of , having this day paid the sum of £2, is
hereby authorized to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds
and fallow-deer bucks and does within the Grey District
Acclimatization District, from the 26th day of March,
1928, to the 30th day of June, 1928 (both days inclusive),
subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game
Act, 1921-22, and all regulations and notifications affecting
red-deer and fallow-deer made thereunder and in force
within the said district.
This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or
kill red-deer stags and hinds or fallow-deer bucks and does
on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered
acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on
any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted
from the operation of the notification declaring an open
season for the district.
