Declaring that Land in Buller Coalfield Reserve shall be administered by the State Forest Service.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section six of the Forests Amendment Act, 1926, it is provided, inter alia, that the Governor-General may, on the joint recommendation of the Commissioner of State Forests and the Minister of Lands, by Proclamation, declare that any lands comprised in the Buller Coalfields Reserve described in the Third Schedule to the Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Act, 1877, shall be administered by the State Forest Service as if they were State forests within the meaning of the Forests Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas the Commissioner of State Forests and the Minister of Lands have made a joint recommendation that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be so administered :

Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting on the joint recommendation of the Commissioner of State Forests and the Minister of Lands, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of land in the Buller Coalfields Reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall, as from the date of the publication of this Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, be administered by the State Forest Service as if it were a State forest within the meaning of the Forests Act, 1921–22.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON-MARLBOROUGH FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—BULLER COALFIELD RESERVE.

ALL that area in Nelson Land District containing 14,000 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Mokihinui Survey District, and Blocks IV, III, VIII, and VII, Ngakawau Survey District. Commencing at a point on the north-eastern boundary of the Westport Harbour Endowment, and bounded towards the west generally by the Mokihinui–Karamea Road, Tobin’s Road, and Section 101, Block XV, Mokihinui Survey District ; towards the south generally by the road along the Mokihinui River fronting Section 9, Block XVI, Mokihinui Survey District, Section 8, Block XVI, Mokihinui Survey District, a line across a road to Podges Creek, by Podges Creek to the Mokihinui River, the Mokihinui River, a line across such river and a road to the most easterly point of Section 4 of the same block and district ; towards the west again by the before-mentioned Section 4, Section 3, a line across a road, stream, and a road, Sections 2, 6, a line across a road to Coal or Parenga Creek, a line across such a creek and a road, along the creek road to its intersection by a road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 66, Block XV, Mokihinui Survey District ; thence along this last-mentioned road and the eastern boundary of Section 8A of the same block and district to a road along Chasm Creek ; thence by the road along Chasm Creek to a point opposite the south-east corner of Section 8, Block III, Ngakawau Survey District, a line across such road, Chasm Creek, and a road ; thence by the south-east and south-west boundaries of the last-mentioned Section 8 to the south boundary of Mokihinui Survey District ; thence south-westerly by a right line in the direction of Trig. Station A.N., a distance of approximately 120 chains, to the bush-line ; thence by the bush-line to the Ngakawau River, by such river, and again by the bush-line to the boundary of the Westport Harbour Endowment ; thence north-easterly and north-westerly by such boundary to the point of commencement. Save and except the open lands, public roads, tramways, Timber Privilege No. 5248, and Section 7, Block XVI, Mokihinui Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on a plan No. 106/3, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service, in Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 28th day of November, 1927.
