THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Edgar James Wills, Esquire,*

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Mohaka, as from the 1st day of November, 1927.

  • Amending entry on page No. 3511 of New Zealand Gazette No. 79, of 17th November, 1927.

Francis Albert Dunstall, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Birmingham, as from the 9th day of November, 1927.

Beacon Murdoch Dickie, Esquire,

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, Dairy Industry Act, 1908, and Shearers’ Accommodation Act, 1919, as from the 14th day of November, 1927.

William Gerald George, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Horoera, as from the 1st day of November, 1927.

Lionel Dudley Blomfield, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Maraenui, as from the 1st day of November, 1927.

Kingsley Goff Chapple, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Te Matai, as from the 1st day of November, 1927.

Hugh Cleland, Esquire,

to be Registrar of Brands under the Stock Act, 1908, for the Waimarino, Patea, Wanganui, and Rangitikei Branding Registration Districts, as from the 1st day of November, 1927.

to be District Public Trustee at New Plymouth, as from the 21st day of November, 1927.

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 17th November, 1927.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

STAFF.

Captain K. L. Stewart, M.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Officer in Charge No. 6 Regimental District, Palmerston North, dated 15th September, 1927, and, having left the Dominion to undergo a course of instruction at the Staff College, Camberley, England, is seconded. Dated 12th November, 1927.

Captain S. F. Allen, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, Southern Depot, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, and Southern Depot, N.Z. Corps of Signals, and Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, Southern Command, dated 30th September, 1927, and, having proceeded to England to undergo a course in signal duties, is seconded. Dated 12th November, 1927.

Captain R. J. D. Davis, N.Z. Staff Corps, to be Officer Commanding N.Z. Permanent Force Training Cadre, Trentham Camp, in addition to his present duties. Dated 13th September, 1927.

Captain E. L. G. Bown, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, Area 12B, Gore, dated 21st October, 1927, and is appointed Area Officer, Area 10A, Christchurch. Dated 22nd October, 1927.

THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

John Alexander Stewart to be Bandmaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 29th October, 1927.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant A. R. Ross-Murray is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 8th November, 1927.

THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain T. F. Christian, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain. Dated 12th November, 1927.

THE MANAWATU MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain S. E. Gilshnan, the Wellington West Coast Regiment, is attached for duty under the provisions of para. 141, G.R., 1927. Dated 3rd November, 1927.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

Lieutenant A. E. Bagnall, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 9th November, 1927.

2nd Lieutenant B. C. Hart, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 9th November, 1927.

2nd Lieutenant H. Geddes, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 9th November, 1927.

Frederick George Lawn to be Bandmaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant, and is appointed Bandmaster No. 1 Regimental District Senior Cadet Band. Dated 7th November, 1927.

The Wellington West Coast Regiment.

Captain S. E. Gilshnan, 1st Battalion, is attached for duty to the Manawatu Mounted Rifles under the provisions of para. 141, G.R., 1927. Dated 3rd November, 1927.

The Taranaki Regiment.

James Chalmers Findlater to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is seconded for duty with the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 10th October, 1927.

The Otago Regiment.

Lieutenant D. J. Sumpter, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 7th November, 1927.

N.Z. ARMY LEGAL DEPARTMENT.

With reference to the notices published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 63 of 8th September, 1927, relating to Major F. L. G. West, for the words “to be Major” read “to be Lieutenant-Colonel”; also, under the heading “Staff” for “Major” read “Lieutenant-Colonel.”

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend J. A. Jermyn, Chaplain 4th Class, to be Chaplain 3rd Class. Dated 3rd November, 1927.

The Reverend Hubert Maurice Cocks to be Chaplain, 4th Class. (R.D. 9). Dated 7th November, 1927.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Wellington West Coast Regiment.
