THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Position : On south-west side. Lat. 24° 07' south, long. 152° 45½' east, on Chart No. 345.

Alterations : The period and length of flash will be reduced, and the power will be increased as follows :-

Character : Flashing white every five seconds, thus—flash, ⅓ sec. ; eclipse, 4⅔ sec.

Power : The power will be increased to 85,000 candles.

Visibility : 13 miles.

Note.—In other respects the light will remain unaltered.

Temporary Light : During alterations a temporary group flashing white light of low power, showing four flashes every twenty seconds, will be exhibited from a wooden framework structure 25 ft. in height, situated about 900 ft. bearing 125° from the lighthouse tower. The temporary light will be visible 9 miles, except from about 123° to about 127°, where it will be obscured by the lighthouse tower.

Remarks: Further notice will be given when the alteration has been completed.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Taranaki Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and amendments.

Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

New Plymouth, 15th November, 1927.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 29th November, 1927.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent on them; to landless applicants who, within two years immediately preceding date of ballot, have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were bona fide residents in New Zealand; and to applicants who, while domiciled in New Zealand, have served beyond New Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in connection with any war other than the war with Germany.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Egmont County.-Cape Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Three Years.)

SECTION 1, Block XIII : Area, 84 acres 0 roods 2 perches. Capital value, £410. Half-yearly rent, £8 4s.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of three years providing improvements to the value of £40 are effected annually.

Weighted with £75 valuation for improvements comprising 70 chains of fencing, small whare, and old cowshed, to be paid in cash, or may be secured by way of mortgage under Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act after payment of a deposit of £25.

Situated in the Parihaka Block, and is distant twenty-seven miles from New Plymouth. It is situated on the Parihaka Road, about one mile from Pungarehu School, dairy factory, post-office, and store.

Comprises about 6 acres swamp land; the balance, with the exception of about 8 acres which is in good pasture, is in inferior pastures, covered in patches of gorse. Subdivided into four paddocks. Generally, the area comprises flat to undulating country, with a few stony hummocks. Soil is of a volcanic nature.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Term of lease, sixty-six years, with a perpetual right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years.

  2. Rent, 4 per cent. per annum on the capital value, payable on 1st January and 1st July in each year.

  3. Applicants to be seventeen years of age and upwards.

  4. Applicants to furnish statutory declaration with application, and, on being declared successful, deposit £1 1s. (lease fee), and a half-year's rent. Rent for the broken period between date of lease and 1st January or 1st July following is also payable.

  5. Application made on the same day are deemed to be simultaneous.

  6. Order of selection is decided by ballot.

  7. Successful applicant to execute lease within thirty days after being notified that it is ready for signature.
