Notice making and levying Rates under the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926.

Wellington, 20th October, 1927.
I, OSWALD JAMES HAWKEN, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy upon the unimproved value of all lands liable to be rated pursuant to that Act a rate on a graduated scale as specified in the Schedule hereto according to the classification of the land.
The said rate will be payable in one sum on the 24th day of October, 1927, to the Collector of Rates for the Hauraki Plains Rating District, at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be open for inspection.
A copy of the rate-book may be inspected by ratepayers at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kerepehi at all times at which that office is open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the Appraiser appointed under the said Act: Threepence and sixty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (3·67d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class B by the Appraiser appointed under the said Act: Twopence and ten one-hundredths of a penny (2·1d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class C by the Appraiser appointed under the said Act: Fifty-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·52d.) in the pound.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XII, Rangauu Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Awanui, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 69692, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Notice of Intention to take the Leasehold Interest in Land in Block I, Waiopehu Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the estate of leasehold in the land described in the Schedule hereto, held by Norman Gace Vickers and Douglas Wilfred Vickers under Lease No. 9224 from His Majesty the King for a term of twenty-one years from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, such lease being registered in the Lands and Deeds Registry Office at Wellington in Register-book, Vol. 29A, folio 78, is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land in respect of which the estate of leasehold is required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Levin, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said estate of leasehold should, if they have any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such estate of leasehold, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

Varying Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops within the City of Wanganui.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the City of Wanganui, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the notice dated the 26th January, 1921, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd February, 1921, be varied as follows: (1) In the evening of the working-day first preceding any of the special days, other than Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (2) in the evening of the working-day first preceding Christmas Day and in the evening of the working-day first preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.; (3) in the evening of any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of the said section the closing-hour shall be 5 p.m.; (4) subsection (4) of section 35 of the said Act shall not apply to any chemists’ shop in the district which is within two and a half miles from the shop established at 55 Guyton Street, within the City of Wanganui:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said city:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that the notice dated the 26th January, 1921, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd February, 1921, fixing the closing-hours of chemists’ shops in the City of Wanganui is hereby varied as from the 31st day of October, 1927, as follows: (1) In the evening of the working-day first preceding any of the special days other than Christmas Day and New Year’s Day mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (2) in the evening of the working-day first preceding Christmas Day and in the evening of the working-day first preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.; (3) in the evening of any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of the said section the closing-hour shall be 5 p.m.; (4) subsection (4) of section 35 of the said Act shall not apply to any chemists’ shop in the district which is within two and a half miles from the shop established at 55 Guyton Street, within the City of Wanganui, during such time as the latter shop is open.
