THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Orahiri Survey District.
Section 7, Block IX : Area, 572 acres. Capital value, £340.
Deposit on deferred payments, £15. Half-yearly instalment,
£10 11s. 3d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £6 16s.
Weighted with £883, part valuation for improvements.
Situated seventeen miles from Hangatiki Railway-station,
eleven miles from Waitomo Caves School and Post-office and
twenty-four miles from Otorohanga Dairy-factory, by metalled
road. About 300 acres felled and grassed, mostly gone back
to fern and second growth ; balance in light to heavy bush,
comprising rimu, tawa, tawhero, and rata, with a light to
thick undergrowth of supplejack, black vine, mahoe, and
konini. About 100 acres of the section is of limestone forma-
tion, the balance being light soil on a sandstone formation.
Well watered by running streams.
The improvements, partly included in the capital value and
partly to be paid for separately, comprise house of three
rooms and pantry, woolshed, 300 acres felling, 100 acres
grassing, 10 acres stumping, 1 acre orchard and 286 chains
of fencing : Total value £933, of which £50 is included in
the capital value; balance of £883 to be secured to the Public
Trustee by deed of covenant, payable in five years with
interest at 6 per cent., payable half-yearly.
Waitomo County.—Kawhia South Survey District.
Section 5, Block XVI : Area, 1,206 acres l rood 27 perches.
Capital value, £610. Deposit on deferred payments, £30.
Half-yearly instalment, £18 17s. Renewable lease : Half-
yearly rent, £12 4s.
Weighted with £1,992, valuation for improvements com-
prising dwelling of four rooms (bathroom, pantry), and wash-
house ; shed, about 670 chains of 7-wire fence, and clearing
and grassing. Repayable in cash, or to an approved pur-
chaser arrangements could be made for a substantial amount
to remain on mortgage with interest at 5 per cent.
Situfted fifteen miles from Hangatiki Railway-station and
ten miles and a half from Waitomo Caves School, Post-office,
and store. Cream cart passes property. Approximately
700 acres bush land, felled and grassed, of which about half
has now reverted to second growth. The section is well
watered by running streams, and is free from noxious weeds.
Suitable for grazing.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of
November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at
the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also
declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject
to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.-
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Whakatane County.—Rotoma Survey District.
SECTION 6, Block VII : Area, 339 acres 1 rood. Capital
value, £340. Half-yearly rent, £6 16s.
Weighted with £310, valuation of improvements comprising
350 chains fencing (in poor condition), two-roomed house,
and implement-shed, to be secured by instalment mortgage
over a term of twenty years. Half-yearly payment of prin-
cipal and interest combined, £12 17s. 7d.
Grazing property, situated about sixteen miles from Pikowai
Railway-station and four miles from Pikowai South School.
About 230 acres bush land, felled and grassed, but now gone
back to second growth, fern, and weeds. Balance standing
bush. Ragwort and foxglove are spreading. Well watered
by springs and creek. Subdivided into three paddocks.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 7th day of October, 1927.

shed of corrugated iron, and sheep -yards. The section is
ring-fenced except where naturally stock proof with river and
creek banks. Would carry about four hundred wet sheep and
two hundred dry sheep, and about fifty cattle when the land
has been cleared up and put in good condition. Considerable
amount of blackberry.

Opening Lands in the Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of
November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, and
also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on
deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease : and
I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be
sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule
hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, oc-
cupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the
Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Otorohanga County.—Orahiri Survey District.
SECTION 6B, Block II : Area, 662 acres. Capital value, £500.
Deposit on deferred payments, £20. Half-yearly instalment,
£15 12s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £10.
Subject to a State Advances mortgage for £482, repayable
in cash or by instalment mortgage.
Situated twelve miles from Otorohanga Railway-station,
three miles from Honikiwi School, and two miles and a half
from Honikiwi Post-office. Cream cart passes within two
miles and a half of property. About 526 acres bush land
felled and grassed, but now reverted to second growth ; the
remainder being in bush. The section is fairly well watered
by running streams.
The improvements on the property consist of dwelling
and out-buildings, woolshed (33 ft. by 20 ft.), cowshed, and
approximately 300 chains of fencing ; valued at £647 10s.
Of this amount £165 10s. is included in the capital value,
the balance of £482 being payable under the State Advances
mortgage.
Kawhia County.—Kawhia North Survey District.
Sections 5 and 9, Block VIII : Area, 168 acres 0 roods
23 perches. Capital value, £170. Deposit on deferred pay-
ments, £10. Half-yearly instalment, £5 4s. Renewable lease :
Half-yearly rent, £3 8s.
Situated on the Okupata Road, about three miles and a
half from Oparau Landing, where there is a school, post-
office, and dairy-factory. Undulating to broken country,
covered in scrub and fern with the exception of a little heavy
bush on Section 9. The soil is of a poor quality, and the
land is ploughable only in patches. Well watered.
Otorohanga County.—Mangaorongo Survey District.
Section 5, Block VII : Area, 188 acres 1 rood 12 perches.
Capital value, £450. Deposit on deferred payments, £20.
Half-yearly instalment, £13 19s. 6d. Renewable lease :
Half-yearly rent, £9.
Weighted with £100, valuation for buildings comprising
dwelling of two rooms and lean-to, cowshed, and old store shed
(all in disrepair); repayable in cash or in eight years by sixteen
half-yearly instalments of £7 14s. 9d.
Situated thirteen miles from Otorohanga Railway-station
and Dairy-factory (cream cart collects), a quarter mile from
Maihiihi School, and one mile from Maihiihi Post-office. About
100 acres has been grassed, but has now reverted to second
growth. Watered by running streams. Ragwort is prevalent.
The improvements, included in the capital value, comprise
153 chains of internal fencing and 85 chains boundary fencing
(netted) ; valued at £170.
