Special Order made by the Matamata County Council altering Riding Boundaries.

THE following special order, made by the Matamata County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 31st day of March, 1928, as the date from which the special order shall take effect.

MATAMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER ALTERING BOUNDARIES OF RIDINGS.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Matamata County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows:—

  1. That the present boundaries of the Okoroire and Putaruru Ridings be altered, and that the boundaries of such ridings be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.
  2. That the alteration hereby made shall take effect from the 31st day of March, 1928.

SCHEDULE.

OKOROIRE RIDING.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District included within the following boundaries: Commencing at the northernmost corner of Paengaroa No. 1 Block, thence in a south-easterly direction by the Tauranga County boundary; thence in a south-westerly direction by the Rotorua County boundary to the Auckland–Rotorua railway; thence westerly by the said railway to the road forming the eastern boundary of Section 102, Selwyn Settlement; thence northerly by that road and the Oraka Stream to the northern boundary of Section 97, Selwyn Settlement; thence west and south by the northern and western boundaries of the said Section 97 to the Auckland–Rotorua railway-line; thence northerly by the said railway-line to the northern boundary-line of Pt. Mangakaretu Block; thence easterly by the said boundary-line to the Oraka Stream; thence northerly by the Oraka Stream, across the said stream, to the southern boundary of Section 11 shown on plan 4473A, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, to the Auckland–Rotorua railway; thence by the said railway to Te Poi Riding; thence by Te Poi Riding, described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 85, of the 14th October, 1920, and therein called “Tapapa Riding,” to the place of commencement.

PUTARURU RIDING.

All that area in the Auckland Land District described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 85, of the 14th August, 1920, but excluding therefrom the land known as Pt. Mangakaretu Block (transferred to Okoroire Riding, above described), and also the Putaruru Town District, described on page 2617 of the New Zealand Gazette No. 58, of 31st August, 1926.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

CERTIFICATE.

As required by section 100 of the Counties Act, 1920, I hereby certify that the attached Schedules are a correct description of the proposed alterations of boundaries of ridings in the Matamata County, and are sufficient to render the new boundaries capable of identification as indicated by coloured borders on the lithos submitted by the Matamata County.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-order and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand for the Queensland Golden Casket Art Union, Brisbane.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable ground for supposing that the organization and person whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said organization or person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said organization or person (either by its or his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

SIR,—With reference to Mr. Amery’s telegram of the 14th July, I have the honour to transmit, for the information of His Majesty’s Government in New Zealand, the accompanying copies of an extract from the London Gazette of the 15th July, containing a notification issued by the Foreign Office relative to the application of the Extradition Treaty with Czecho-Slovakia of the 11th November, 1924, as amended by the Protocol of the 4th of June, 1926, to the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State, and Newfoundland.

Extradition Treaty of 11th November, 1924, between Great Britain and Czecho-Slovakia, as amended by the Protocol of 4th June, 1926.

WHEREAS by the “Czecho-Slovakia (Extradition) Order in Council, 1926,” it was provided that from and after the 15th day of December, 1926, the Extradition Acts, 1870 to 1906, should apply in the case of Czecho-Slovakia under and in accordance with the Treaty concluded on the 11th day of November, 1924, between His Majesty and the President of the Czecho-Slovak Republic, as amended by the Protocol signed on the 4th day of June, 1926:

And whereas it was further provided by the said Order in Council that the operation of the said Acts should be and remain suspended within the self-governing dominions herein-after named, that is to say, the Commonwealth of Australia (including for this purpose Papua and Norfolk Island), the Dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State, and Newfoundland, and India, until notification should have been made in the London Gazette that the Treaty had been made applicable thereto, and that on such notification being made in respect of any such Dominion or India, the said Acts should apply in such Dominion or India in the case of the Czecho-Slovak Republic, under and in accordance with the said Treaty, as amended by the said Protocol, as from the date of the said notification:

Now, therefore, it is hereby notified that the said Treaty, as amended by the said Protocol, has been made applicable to the Commonwealth of Australia (including for this purpose Papua and Norfolk Island), the Dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State, and Newfoundland, and India, as and from the present date—viz., the 12th day of July, 1927.
