NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the under-mentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Nelson Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Reserve in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 22nd July, 1927.

NOTICE is hereby given that tenders for the lease of the undermentioned reserve will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday the 29th August, 1927, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and amendments.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—SPRING COUNTY.—HALSWELL SURVEY DISTRICT.

PART Reserve 3093, Blocks X and XIV: Area, 8 acres. Term, five years. Minimum annual rent, £6 8s.

Section consists of medium quality flat land, ring fenced by old post-and-wire fence; is all in grass. Close to Motu-karara Railway-station.

Abstract of Terms and Conditions of Lease.

  1. Tenders to be addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, and to be marked on the outside “Tender for Reserve.” To be accompanied by a deposit of one half-year’s rent at rate offered and £1 1s. lease fee.

  2. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

  3. Possession will be given as from date of acceptance of any tender.

  4. The Commissioner of Crown Lands may at any time resume possession of the land comprised in the lease, or any portion thereof, by giving to the lessee twelve months’ notice in writing of his intention to do so.

  5. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the whole or any portion of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to compensation either for any improvements that may be placed upon the land or on account of the aforementioned resumption.

  7. The land shall be used for grazing purposes only, and shall not be broken up or cropped without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  8. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  9. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweet-brier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall, with all reasonable despatch, remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweet-brier, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  10. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance, free from all deductions whatsoever.

  11. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within sixty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Auckland, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, the 26th August, 1927.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND CONSERVATION-REGION, NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

MILLING-TIMBER on part Sections 1 and 2, Block VII, and part 25 and 26, Block X, Waipoua Survey District, containing 736 acres, being portions of Provisional State Forest No. 85, situated near Donnelly’s Crossing.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 275,687, or in board feet, 1,926,212, made up as follows:—

One hundred and four defective kauri trees, branded ▲, are excluded from this sale, and must not be cut without authority.

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-tenth of the purchase-money, together with half-year’s ground rent and £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by nine equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid three months after the date of sale. In addition, the successful tenderer shall continue to pay such ground rent half-yearly in advance during the currency of the license.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

  3. The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

  4. A return, verified by affidavit, giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively in each year. A return, similarly verified, must be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These
