Notice to Mariners No. 47 of 1927.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—HAURAKI GULF.—
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.
(1) Alteration to lights.
(2) Erection of compass-adjusting dolphins.
(3) Removal of existing compass-adjusting dolphin.
(1) Previous Notice: Wellington Notice No. 130 of 1910.
Date of Alteration: 15th August, 1927.
Position: Light-tower, end of King’s Wharf.
Alteration: The occulting white light will be discontinued and replaced by a combination of three fixed lights—red, orange, green—vertically disposed, 10 ft. apart; the lower light (green) will be at an elevation of 30 ft.
(2) New Dolphin.—A dolphin for compass-adjustment purposes, suitable for vessels of 3,000 gross register tonnage, will shortly be erected in 4½ fathoms M.L.W.S. on the following bearings, Mt. Victoria flagstaff, 019°; light-tower on King’s Wharf, 284°.
(3) Removal of Dolphins.—The existing compass-adjustment dolphins in St. Mary’s Bay (Stoke Pt. trig. 337°, 6 cables) and in Islington Bay will be demolished.
No further notice will be given.

AUSTRALIA, NORTH COAST.—TORRES STRAITS.—THURSDAY ISLAND.
Amendments to Charts.

Position: Latitude 10° 34½′ south; longitude 142° 12¼′ east.
Remarks: The green buoy in the above position has been destroyed.
Charts affected: 333—691. -
The black beacon, situated 092 degrees 8 cables from Goode Island Light, has been destroyed.
Chart affected: 3419. -
Position: Latitude 10° 34½′ south; longitude 142° 11′ east.
Remarks: The black beacon in the above position has been destroyed.
Charts affected: 437—2375. -
Position: Latitude 10° 34¼′ south; longitude 142° 12′ east.
Remarks: The description of the house in the above position is to be expunged. This house is no longer visible from Normanby Sound.

VICTORIA.—SOUTH CHANNEL PILE LIGHT, PORT PHILLIP.
Intended Alteration in Colour of Sector.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that on or about 1st September, 1927, the RED Sector showing over Capel Sound, between the bearings of 280 degrees through north to 050 degrees, will be altered to a GREEN Sector.
AUSTRALIA.—EAST COAST—INNER BARRIER ROUTE.
RESTORATION ROCK—LIGHT ESTABLISHED (U).
Mariners and others are hereby notified that a Group Flashing White Light with intensified Red Sector (U) was established on Restoration Rock on 28th June, 1927.
Previous Notice: No. 8 of 1927.
Position: On summit. Lat. 12° 37¼′ S.; long. 143° 27½′ E., on Chart No. 2920.
Details—
Character: Group Flashing White, with Red Sector, showing two flashes every six seconds, thus: Flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 4½ sec.
Elevation: 125 ft.
Power: White, 3,000 candles. Red, intensified, 3,000 candles.
Visibility: White, 17 miles; red, 15 miles. Red from 139° to 153°, white thence through south, west, and north to 022°; obscured elsewhere.
Structure: Steel framework tower, painted red, 42 ft. in height.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched. No further notice will be given.

AUSTRALIA—SOUTH COAST—BACKSTAIRS PASSAGE.
CAPE JERVIS—ALTERATION IN LIGHT.—SIGNAL STATION DISCONTINUED.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the Fixed White Light on Cape Jervis was replaced by a Group Flashing White Light (U), and that the Signal Station was discontinued on 20th June, 1927.
Previous Notice: 1927, No. 5.
Position: Lat. 35° 37′ S., long. 138° 06′ E., on Chart No. 25.
Alterations—
(a) Character: The fixed White Light has been replaced by a Group Flashing White Light (U), showing four flashes every twenty seconds, thus: Flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 15 sec.
(b) Elevation: The elevation has been increased from 74 ft. to 76 ft.
(c) Power: The power has been increased from 3,000 candles to 5,000 candles.
(d) Structure: The height of the tower has been increased from 28 ft. to 31 ft.
(e) The light is now unwatched, and the lightkeepers have been withdrawn.
Signal Station: The Signal Station has been discontinued.
Remarks: In other respects the light remains unaltered. No further notice will be given.

LEGENDRE ISLAND—LIGHT ESTABLISHED (U).
Mariners and others are hereby notified that a Group Flashing White Light (U) was established on Legendre Island on 18th June, 1927.
Previous Notice: No. 3 of 1927.
Position: Near northern extreme. Lat. 20° 21¼′ S., long. 116° 51½′ E., on Chart No. 1055.
Details—
Character: Group Flashing White, showing four flashes every twelve seconds, thus: Flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 1 sec.; flash, ½ sec.; eclipse, 7¾ sec.
Elevation: 79 ft.
Power: 3,000 candles.
Visibility: Fifteen miles.
Structure: Steel framework tower, painted red, 54 ft. in height.
Remarks: The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given.
