Situated on the Okau Road, near its junction with the Mangaroa Road and within half a mile from the Kotare Post-office. About 70 acres is in bush. The balance has been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to fern. The soil is of a light nature on the hills on papa and sandstone formation, whilst the flats are of good chocolate loam. Well watered by streams.

Clifton County.—Waro Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Two Years.)

Section 5, Block V: Area, 436 acres. Capital value, £250. Half-yearly rent, £5.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of two years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £50, being effected annually.

Weighted with £70 valuation for improvements comprising 20 acres felling and grassing and 35 chains fencing. Payable in cash or may be secured on first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated on the Mangaroa Road about three miles from the Kotare Post-office. About 180 acres has been felled and grassed, but, with the exception of about 20 acres, this has now deteriorated to fern and second growth. About 241 acres in fairly heavy bush comprising tawa, pukatea, tawhero, rewa-rewa, rimu, with a fairly heavy undergrowth comprising supplejack, kiekie, &c. The soil is generally of a light nature on papa and sandstone formation. Well watered by permanent streams.

Waitotara County.—Omara Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Four Years.)

Section 1, Block II: Area, 611 acres. Capital value, £300. Half-yearly rent, £6.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of four years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £30, being effected annually.

Weighted with £500 valuation for improvements comprising dwelling, felling and grassing. Payable in cash or may, be secured on first mortgage under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act.

Situated near the Parinui Landing on the Wanganui River, about sixty-five miles from Wanganui. About 172 acres has been felled and grassed, but this has deteriorated to fern and second growth. Taken as a whole, the property is fairly steep. It consists of light to medium soil on sandstone and papa formation.

Waitomo County.—Totoro Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Four Years.)

Section 5, Block VII: Area, 402 acres 0 roods 20 perches. Capital value, £400. Half-yearly rent, £8.

Exempt from payment of rent for four years, provided permanent improvements to the value of £40, effected annually during exemption period.

This section is situated about ten miles from Pio Pio Township, and about twenty-six miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station. It lies between the Kaitaringa and Kohua Roads. It comprises generally fair to medium land, part manuka and part medium bush growing on clay and sandstone formation. Well watered by streams. The elevation ranges from 500 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.

Taumarunui County.—Piopiotea West Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Four Years.)

Section 10, Block I: Area, 722 acres. Capital value, £600. Half-yearly rent, £12.

Exemption from payment of rent for a period of four years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £60 are effected annually.

Weighted with £600 valuation for improvements comprising house, shed and yards, 240 chains fencing and 400 acres felling and grassing. May be paid in cash or secured by way of a first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

The section is situated about six miles from the Taringamotu Railway-station and about eight miles from the school. Well watered by permanent springs. In its present condition it is estimated to carry 200 dry sheep and 60 head of cattle.

Opening Land in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Southland County.—Lindhurst Hundred.

SECTIONS 11, 51 to 55, and 57; Block V: Area, 751 acres 1 rood 35 perches. Capital value, £1,000; half-yearly rent, £20.

Weighted with £200, valuation for fencing, which must be paid in cash on selection.

Situated about seven miles from Brydone or Dacre. There is no formed road access for the last two miles. The land is mostly red tussock hills running to silver tussock in the better parts. No scrub or fern. Well watered. Suitable for grazing.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 2nd day of June, 1927.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke a certain Warrant dated the fourteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, appointing trustees for the Hoteo Public Cemetery, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint

John Gibbs,
John Charles Gray,
George Vernon Keith,
Ernest George Levet, and
Frank Joseph Oldfield

to be trustees to have the maintenance and care of the Hoteo Cemetery as described in the Schedule hereto.
