Ohura County.—Waro Survey District.

Sub. 1 of Section 4, Block VII: Area, 56 acres, 2 roods 23 perches. Capital value, £50. Deposit on deferred payments, £5, half-yearly instalment, £1 9s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1.

Weighted with £90, valuation for improvements, comprising felling and grassing and 30 chains of fencing. Payable in cash or may be secured on first mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Department.

The area has all been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to fern. Situated about fourteen miles from Ohura Railway-station, on the Waitaanga South and Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Roads. Soil is of fair quality resting on clay and sandstone formation. It is practically all flat. Elevation about 1,400 ft. to 1,450 ft. above sea-level.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 2nd day of June, 1927.

Opening Settlement Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Ohura County.—Ohura Survey District.—Huiā Settlement.

SECTION 1s: Area, 331 acres 1 rood 11·32 perches. Capital value, £1,660. Half-yearly rent, £41 10s.

Situated on the Waitewhena and Ohura Roads. Access is from Toi Toi Railway-station, which is about one mile distant by good metalled road. Comprises undulating to hilly country of good quality soil resting on sandstone formation. Well watered by springs and creeks. Three hundred acres have been felled and grassed. Elevation ranges from 550 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.

Valuation for 200 chains fencing, dwelling, shed, and felling and grassing is included in capital value.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Whangamomona County.—Pouatu Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Two Years.)

SECTION 4, Block IX: Area, 322 acres. Capital value, £240. Half-yearly rent, £4 16s.

Exempt from payment of rent for two years, subject to satisfactory improvements by way of regrassing and clearing being effected.

Weighted with £650 valuation for improvements comprising five-roomed dwelling, cowshed and yard, 155 chains fencing, 112 acres felling and grassing, and 8 acres of stumping, to be paid in cash or secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated on the Marco Road, about four miles from Kohuratahi Railway-station, and one mile and three-quarters from Marco Road School. Subdivided into four paddocks. About 230 acres has been felled and grassed, but about 100 acres of this has badly deteriorated. Well watered by running streams.

Whangamomona County.—Ngalimaru Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Two Years.)

Sections 10 and 11, Block IV: Area, 538 acres. Capital value, £400. Half-yearly rent, £8.

Exempt from rent for a period of two years, subject to satisfactory improvements being effected.

Weighted with £500 valuation for improvements comprising house, 200 chains fencing, and felling and grassing. Payable in cash or to be secured by way of a first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated on the Matirangi Road, about one mile from the Pohokura Railway-station and School. About 340 acres has been felled and grassed, but this has more or less deteriorated to fern and second growth. The holding is subdivided into three paddocks. The soil is of medium quality on sandstone formation.

Waitomo County.—Aria Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Ten Years.)

Section 8, Block XI: Area, 693 acres. Capital value, £350. Half-yearly rent, £7.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of ten years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of the rental remitted being effected annually.

Weighted with £720 valuation for improvements comprising house, cowshed, fencing, and about 500 acres felling and grassing. Payable in cash or to be secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated on the Waikaka Valley Road, about six miles from Matiere Railway-station, Post-office, and School. Practically the whole area was originally felled and grassed, but this has now deteriorated and about 100 acres is covered with heavy manuka and scrub.

Waitomo County.—Aria Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Four Years.)

Sections 2 and 26, Block II: Area, 657 acres 1 rood 18 perches. Capital value, £800. Half-yearly rent, £16.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of four years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £80 being effected annually.

Weighted with £440 valuation for improvements comprising house, cowshed, fencing, felling, and grassing. May be paid in cash or be secured by way of a first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated about twenty-eight miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station, and about four miles from Aria School and dairy factory. About 65 acres is in good pasture, about 100 acres in bush, about 100 good raupo swamp; balance in scrub and second growth. The property is of medium quality, and consists of a lot of papa formation and clay with good soil on top. It has some good swamp land which could be drained. When developed, the area is estimated to carry 300 ewes, 100 dry sheep, and 30 dairy cows, as well as some dry stock.

Waitomo County.—Aria Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Three Years.)

Section 1, Block II: Area, 569 acres 3 roods 34 perches. Capital value, £700. Half-yearly rent, £14.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of three years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £100, being effected annually.

Weighted with £800 valuation for improvements comprising five-roomed dwelling, cowshed, iron shed, fencing, felling and grassing. May be paid in cash or taken over on first mortgage to the State Advances Office.

Situated on the Kie Kie Road, about two miles and a half from Aria Township. About 200 acres of rough feed; balance, with the exception of a small patch of medium bush, consists of manuka and fern with which the original pastures are over-run.

Clifton County.—Waro Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of Rent for Two Years.)

Section 6, Block IX: Area, 570 acres. Capital value, £420. Half-yearly rent, £8 8s.

Exempt from payment of rent for a period of two years, subject to permanent improvements to the value of £100, being effected annually.
