Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Otaki, the County of Horowhenua, and the Otaki Riding of the County of Horowhenua.

Wellington, 25th May, 1927.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Borough of Otaki are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Orders in Council dated the 22nd day of March, 1927, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and published in Gazette No. 21 of the 14th day of April, 1927.

And also in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the County of Horowhenua affected by the said Orders in Council dated the 22nd day of March, 1927, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

And in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Otaki Riding of the County of Horowhenua affected by the said Orders in Council dated the 22nd day of March, 1927, are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

Boundaries of Borough of Otaki.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waitohu Stream in Block V, Waitohu Survey District, and proceeding thence up the middle of the said stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of the Taumanuka Block; thence south-westerly along that boundary to the public road forming the south-western boundary of Lot 1 on plan 3364, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of that road to the eastern boundary of Lot 4 on plan 3364 aforesaid; thence north-easterly, easterly, and northerly along the eastern boundaries of Lot 4 aforesaid to the north-western corner of Pirita ha No. 4 Block; thence easterly, northerly, and easterly along the northern and eastern boundaries of Pirita ha No. 4 and the northern boundary of Pirita ha No. 3 Blocks to the western side of the old coach road; thence northerly along that western side to the westernmost corner of Pukekaraka No. 5 Block; thence across that road and northerly along its eastern side to the north-western corner of the aforesaid Pukekaraka No. 5 Block; thence along the northern and eastern boundaries of that block to the northern boundary of Te Toki Toki No. 3 Block; thence along the northern boundary of Te Toki Toki No. 3 to the westernmost corner of Waitohu 11c No. 2 Block; thence along the western boundaries of Waitohu 11c No. 2 to its northernmost corner; thence south-easterly along the northern boundaries of the said Waitohu 11c No. 2, Waitohu 11B, and Haruatai No. 7 Blocks to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned block; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundaries of the said Haruatai No. 7 and the Church Mission Grant to the south-western corner of Haruatai No. 2A; thence south-easterly along the southern boundaries of Haruatai No. 2A and part 2B to the south-western corner of the said Haruatai 2B at its junction with the Haruatai Stream; thence by a right line across that stream and along the southern side of the northern branch of the said Haruatai Stream to the North Island Main Trunk Railway-line; thence south-westerly along the western side of that railway to where it joins angle peg No. IV of the county road in Kaingaraki No. 6 Block; thence by a right line across the angle of the said county road to the northern side thereof; thence southerly along the north-western side of the county road to its junction with the northern side of the road passing through Kaingaraki No. 9; thence westerly along the northern side of that road and its production to the western side of River-bank Road; thence northerly along the western side of River-bank Road to the southernmost corner of Harurunui No. 1 Block; thence westerly generally along the southern and western boundaries of the said Harurunui No. 1 and Tutangataki no No. 9 Blocks to the northern side of the old course of the Otaki River; thence along the northern side of the old course of the Otaki River to the western boundary of the Maungapiharau Block; thence northerly along that western boundary to the southern boundary of Lot 8 on plan 3364 aforesaid; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of Lots 8 and 11 on plan 3364 aforesaid to the public road forming the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot 11; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that road to the north-western corner of Lot 5 on plan 3364 aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the western boundary of Lot 5 aforesaid to the Rangiuru Creek at its south-western corner; thence by a right line across that creek to its left bank; thence down the left bank of that stream to a public road; thence southerly and easterly along the northern side of that road to its intersection with the western boundary of the Takapu Block; thence across that road and along the western and southern boundaries of the Takapu Block to the northern side of the old course of the Otaki River; thence along the northern side of the said old course of the Otaki River to the Rangiuru Creek; thence along the eastern side of that creek to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Taumanuka 3L Block; thence across the said Rangiuru Creek to and along the south-western boundary of Taumanuka 3L Block to the sea; thence along high-water mark of the sea to the mouth of the Waitohu Stream, the place of commencement.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

Boundaries of the County of Horowhenua.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line along the middle of the Manawatu River from the sea to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Tuwhakatupua No. 1A Block, as shown on plan W.D. 890, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Wellington; thence to and along that boundary to Mangawarawara Trig. Station at the easternmost corner of the aforesaid block; thence by a right line to the intersection of the south-eastern boundary of Section 358, Block VI, Arawaru Survey District, with a public road; thence along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 358 to its southernmost corner; thence along the south-western boundaries of Blocks VI and VIII, Arawaru Survey District, to the southernmost corner of Section 318, Block VIII aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 318, 317, 316, and 315 to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along a right line to Arawaru Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Mount Dundas; thence along the summit of the Tararua Range to Mount Hector; thence along a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 10, Block III, Akatarawa Survey District; thence along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 10 and 8, Block III aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the western and south-western boundaries of Section 1, Block XV, Kaitawa Survey District, to the Ngatiawa River; thence along a line down the middle of that river to the bridge on the Ngatiawa Road near Section 35, Block X, Kaitawa Survey District; thence along the middle of the Ngatiawa Road and the Waikanae-Reikiorangi Road to the northern boundary of Subdivision 23, Ngarara West C Block, and along that boundary to the Main Trunk Railway line; and thence along that railway-line to the middle of the Waikanae River, and by a line down the middle of that river to the sea; thence by the sea to the mouth of the Manawatu River, the place of commencement: excluding therefrom the Boroughs of Shannon, Levin, and Otaki.


THIRD SCHEDULE.

Boundaries of Otaki Riding.

ALL that area in the Horowhenua County bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast in line with the southern boundary of Ohau No. 3 Block; thence to and along that boundary and the southern boundary of Ohau No. 2 and its production to the county boundary; thence south-westerly along the county boundary to a point in line with the south-western boundary of the Waihoanga No. 1c Block; thence to and along that boundary and the south-western boundary of No. 1B to the Otaki River; thence down the middle of the Otaki River to the sea, and by the sea to the place of commencement.
