HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the dismissal of the undermentioned soldier of the Territorial Force from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, he having been convicted by the Civil power :—

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following promotions in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand Division) :—

Sub-Lieutenant Basil Herbert Alexander to Lieutenant, R.N.V.R. (N.Z.D.), to date 8th March, 1927.

Preservation of Trees on certain Area on Bank of Tongariro River.
IN pursuance of the powers conferred on me by the Taupo Trout-fishing Regulations, 1926, as amended by the Taupo Trout-fishing Regulations Amendment No. 1, I hereby declare the trees and growing-timber on the land described in the Schedule hereto to be preserved.

THAT portion of the strip of land one chain wide referred to in Order in Council dated the 8th day of October, 1927, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 69, page 2896, and being part of Ohuanga South 2b No. 2 Block, extending along the left bank of the Tongariro (Waikato) River upstream for a uniform width of one chain from the bank of the bed of such river commencing at peg No. LXXI to a point where the eastern side-line of the Waimarino-Tokaanu Road touches the said river opposite Iron Pipe No. XXXIX, at the extreme south-eastern corner of the said block, and at such points as are shown on Plan No. W.D. 3868, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Wellington.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “ the said Act ”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officer, at the address set against his name, is hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or regulations aforesaid :—

Appointing Thursday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Inglewood.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Inglewood was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 27th day of April, 1927 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Inglewood has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 23rd day of May, 1927.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Ekatahuna.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Ekatahuna was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 27th day of April, 1927 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Ekatahuna has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 1st day of July, 1927.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ Shops within the Borough of Greytown.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ shops within the Borough of Greytown, has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 8.30 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 13th day of June, 1927, all the hairdressers’ shops within the Borough of Greytown shall be closed accordingly.
The notice dated the 2nd December, 1904, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 8th December, 1904, fixing the closing-hours of all shops in the Borough of Greytown shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Rotorua was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 27th day of April, 1927 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Rotorua has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 30th day of May, 1927.
