Alfriston–Papakura Road Special Area Loan of £850.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Alfriston–Papakura Road Loan of £850 Special-rating Area, taken on the 17th day of March, 1927, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to borrow the sum of £850 for the purpose of forming, culverting, and metalling portion of the Alfriston–Papakura Road in the Papakura Riding of the county—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 47; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 48; informal votes, 3.
I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

SOUTH CANTERBURY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and section 51 fo the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, I hereby give notice that at a poll, taken on the 29th day of March, 1927, of the ratepayers of the Mackenzie County Special Area, comprising all that portion of the County of Mackenzie contained within the South Canterbury Electric-power District, on the proposal of the South Canterbury Electric-power Board to raise a special loan of £36,000 for the construction of electric works and such other matters as are provided for by the Electric-powers Board Act, 1925, and for the exercise of the powers conferred on the said Board by sections 118, 119, and 120 of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, for the benefit of the said Mackenzie Special Area.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 244; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 34; the number of informal votes was 1.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 24th day of March, 1927, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of one hundred and eighty-six thousand pounds (£186,000) for the following purposes:—
The particular purposes for which the loan is required are—
(a) £38,000 for providing extensions to the borough water-works, as defined by section 238 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, including in such extensions the purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring or providing necessary land, building, mains, machinery, plant, appliances, and material therefor, additions to the said works, the distribution and supply of water, the payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected, and any matter or thing incidental or in relation to the said purpose.

£147,700 for providing extensions to the Council’s electric-lighting and power works, either within or without the Borough of New Plymouth, including in such extensions the acquiring or taking or providing in connection therewith land, easements and appurtenances, and buildings, plant, machinery, mains, materials, and other things, the distribution and supply of electricity, additions to the said works, the payment of compensation to any person injuriously affected, and any matter or thing incidental to or in relation to such purpose.

(b) The sum to be borrowed for all such purposes is £186,000 at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of one and one-half (1½) per centum per annum additional.

(c) The proposed security for the said sum of £186,000 and the interest and sinking fund thereon is an annually recurring special rate of twopence halfpenny (2½d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of unimproved value) of all rateable property in the said Borough of New Plymouth, and it is proposed to repay the said loan on the 1st day of April, 1947.

(d) It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the said loan and the interest and sinking fund thereon for the first year.

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 1,120; the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 833; the total number of valid votes recorded was 1,953.
I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Manawatu Drainage District, taken on the 7th day of April, 1927, on the proposal of the Manawatu Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the purpose of widening, deepening, diverting, straightening, putting in flood-gates, and doing all such other works and acts as may be necessary for the purpose of improving Mangaone Stream, the Joint Outlet, Whiskey Creek, Burke’s Drain, Boundary Drain, and Main Drain—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 334; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 245; informal, 2.
I therefore declare the proposal was lost.
