  1. Clause 6 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the proviso thereto, and substituting the following :—

“ Provided that salary at full or half rate may, under special circumstances from time to time defined by the Minister, be granted by the Board for a period not exceeding five school days. In each such case the circumstances shall be forthwith reported by the Board to the Department.”

PART IV. AMENDING REGULATIONS AS TO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS.

  1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in clause 9 of the regulations relating to junior high schools (as appearing in an Order in Council dated the 4th day of September, 1922, and published in the Gazette of the 7th day of September, 1922), the rates of salaries as prescribed by that clause may, in the case of any junior high school, be modified by the Minister in such manner as, having regard to any special circumstances, he considers desirable, but so that the total amount of salaries payable in respect of that school shall not exceed the amount that would be payable pursuant to the said clause.

PART V.—AMENDING REGULATIONS AS TO TRAINING COLLEGES.

  1. (1) Clause 7 of the regulations relating to training colleges (as appearing in an Order in Council dated the 13th day of December, 1926, and published in the Gazette of the 16th day of December, 1926), is hereby amended as from the 1st day of January, 1927,—

(a) By revoking paragraph (i) of subclause (2) thereof and substituting—

“ (i) Head teacher: Salary £540 per annum, rising to £590 per annum by annual increments of £25, together with a free residence or a house allowance of £60 per annum ” :

(b) By revoking paragraph (a) of subclause (10) thereof, and substituting—

“ (a) The Principal and Vice-Principal of a training college shall, if required so to do by the Minister at the request of the Council of a University College, act without special remuneration as lecturer in assistance of the Professor of Education in the University College, and in any such case the Principal or Vice-Principal shall be entitled to claim a reasonable reduction of the time during which he is required to be in attendance at the training college. Except as herein provided, the Principal or Vice-Principal shall not be employed on the staff of any University College.”

(2) Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this clause, any person holding office on the 1st day of January, 1927, as the Principal or Vice-Principal of a training college, or as the Head Teacher of a Normal School may, with the approval of the Minister, continue to hold any other position, and to receive the salary and allowances to which he would have been entitled if the amendments effected by this clause had not been made.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section twelve of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as a road the land in Tuahu Survey District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

LAND PROCLAIMED AS A ROAD.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a road: 3 roods 12 perches.
Being portion of Lot 1, D.P. 2919, Waipaoa 5A Block; coloured pink.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

ROAD CLOSED.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road closed: 2 roods 7 perches.
Adjoining or passing through Lots 1 and 4, D.P. 2919, Waipaoa 5A Block; coloured green.

All situated in Block VII, Tuahu Survey District (Gisborne R.D.). (S.O. 1283, brown.)
All in the Gisborne Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 68565, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 12th day of April, 1927.
