These lands are situated in the Wairoa County, and are distant from Town of Wairoa by the main Wairoa-Gisborne Road and by road leading from same to the block about fourteen miles. There is a store and post-office at Whakaki, a distance of about two miles and a half from the block. Generally the country is hilly, with sharp spurs, narrow ridges, and deep intersecting gullies.

The soil is fair, but slightly pumiceous, and lies on papa formation. The sections generally are covered with scrub, light bush, and manuka; grass in patches.

The altitude ranges from 40 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level, and the sections, with the exception of Section 2, Block XIX, Opoiti Survey District, are well watered.

All are provided with a suitable homestead-site.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO APPLICANTS.

For the convenience of prospective tenants an agreement has been entered into with Mr. E. P. Williams, the adjoining owner to the west, to the effect that the fence erected by him on the western boundary along a ridge shall remain, and shall be adopted as a tentative boundary for all purposes.

The fence referred to is in good order and condition, and shall be kept so by the tenants concerned on the one part and by Mr. Williams on the other.

Applicants are asked to specially note that the fence referred to crosses and re-crosses the title boundary between Mr. Williams and the Crown, and that during the life of the agreement tenants will be occupying part of his land, whilst on the other hand he will be in occupation of part of their lands as set out in the agreement.

Authority to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section two hundred and eighty-eight of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, and section sixteen of the Justices of the Peace Amendment Act, 1923, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Charles Richard Ingram, being a person holding the office of Accountant, Chief Post-office, Wellington, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908,

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons set out in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at the places set opposite their names in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

Arrangements for First Election, &c., Hauraki United Drainage District.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

William Ewart Gladstone Willy

to be Returning Officer and person to prepare the roll of electors in connection with the first election of the Board of the Hauraki United Drainage District; also to appoint Tuesday, the 26th day of April, 1927, to be the day, and the residence of Mr. W. E. G. Willy, Piako Road, Turua, to be the place, for holding such election; also to appoint Friday, the 29th day of April, 1927, at 10.30 o’clock in the forenoon, to be the day and the hour, and the Turua Buildings, Turua, to be the place, for holding the first meeting of the Board so elected.
